i think people who smokes do that. because they have those stupid freaking tobacco/cigarettes in the throat and they do those nasty sounds to get those mucas out. O.O i want to hit them in the head when they do that.. but sadly, im too young. =(

ugh, thats gross. sorry you were there and had to witness that! i remember once, a boy did the same thing and it was near my foot! i was so digusted that i screamed at him and it surprised him at first but he just brushed it off and thought that i was being funny. -___- thats so rude and inconsiderate though!
