the regents is actually a more practical test than the sats. you should be happy tests like that are given each year. there are people out there who don't take school seriously (well duh), and don't deserve to be promoted. if you can't even pass one lousy regents test you don't have the right to move on to the next level. would you rather have everyone move on as the dumbasses they are?

p.s. - you don't need to pass all the regents to get a diploma. only if you want a regents diploma. if you're willing to settle for less, go ahead.

What exactly are regents? At my high school, in order to graduate, you have turn in a senior portfolio, which consists of various work you have done throughout you're high school career, and other stuff, like essays (your mission statement), a college application, a job application, and all that good stuff. And not only must you have a senior portfolio, you have to also go through a senior exit interview, where like two teachers and two underclassmen interview you. If you fail those, you don't get to graduate w/ your class, and you have to end up going to summer class for those stupid things.

i never heard of regents... in Texas all u need to do to graduate is pass the TEKS or is it TAKS.. not sure but u need to pass it ur junior yr for Science, Math, Reading, and English and i u fail one... u need to take it again ur senior year and if u don't.. sucks to be you.

and then my HS and School District has a million more things that they want you to do to graduate and they wont let you graduate til you do them all.... i need like 100 or 200 or 300 hours of community service or something and i havent done a single one... eh.

ditto for my school. i took that my sophomore year, but the school district decided that it'll only count for class of 2006 and beyond, so it was pretty much a waste of time for my class [c/o 2005].
