so if you've fallowed my work, it's all eather political, straight edge, or romantic. and i'm in a pop punk band. all bands need some kinda of anthem. this is ours! hope ya like it.

AN ANTHEM FOR THE POLITICAL, THE STRAIGHT EDGE, AND THE HEARTBROKEN
This world is f**ked up
A war is being fought for quote un-quote peace
Our children are our future
Our future just OD’d
They chose to flirt with death
As a way to flirt with each other
They’ll take a bullet for a high
After shooting their own mother

When it comes to society, I can read the news
When it comes to her, I don’t have a clue

Sing it!

We’re too smart to fight his war (fight his war)
We’re too smart to fire a gun (fire a gun)
We’re too smart to poison ourselves (kill ourselves)
We’re dumb enough to fall in love

My visions never been impaired
Cause I always love to see her smile
4 more years in distress
‘Cause of pro-life, homophobes in Ohio
I won’t make it to your keg party
I’ve got better things to do
Like marching in the protest
Wondering if she’s thinking of me, too

This is a song for the kids not afraid of politics
And who know, when it comes to love, we don’t know shit

Sing it!

We’re too smart to fight his war (fight his war)
We’re too smart to fire a gun (fire a gun)
We’re too smart to poison ourselves (kill ourselves)
We’re dumb enough to fall in love
We’re too smart to fight his war (fight his war)
We’re too smart to fire a gun (fire a gun)
We’re too smart to poison ourselves (kill ourselves)
We’re dumb enough to fall in love

(interlude)

We shall overcome
We shall overcome
With this song sung
From the bottom of our hearts to the top of our lungs

We’re too smart to fight his war (fight his war)
We’re too smart to fire a gun (fire a gun)
We’re too smart to poison ourselves (kill ourselves)
We’re dumb enough to fall in love
X4
(Repeats/fade out)

I really like how you incorporated everything you believe in within it. flowers.gif

This is a really amazing poem, and if I hear it, would probably be a great song.

The lyrics were really impelling, and I like how you fit in politics, morals, and love all in one poem. I think my favorite thing about this work though, besides the great lyrics, is the way it sounds so personal. To be specific it was this verse:
QUOTE
My visions never been impaired
Cause I always love to see her smile
4 more years in distress
‘Cause of pro-life, homophobes in Ohio
I won’t make it to your keg party
I’ve got better things to do
Like marching in the protest
Wondering if she’s thinking of me, too

Indeed, those damn pro-life homophobes in Ohio. Well actually, I'm pretty torn between the whole pro-life issue, but that's another topic for another thread.

Overall, I just really enjoyed this song, and wanted to leave you a worthwhile review.

Mucho love,

Alyson

Agreed. _smile.gif

Very well done, and I agree with Kathleen completely.

I loved that part.
