well theres a concert friday they wont let me go to because they say its a bad neighborhood. But they whole time i will be with an adult whos also going to the concert with us. They said theres shootings and drug dealers that will be selling tickets outside the door. But it's not like i would go up to one of them im not stupid.
 Is there anyway I can convince them that I can take care of myself and that they should let me go?

you can ask the adult that your going with to tell your parents that they'll be with you at all times and make sure your safe.. =]

yeah I know they're overprotective in a way its good but i miss out on everything fun its annoying

defilenlty try that. but there just trying to keep you safe. and i would say i need to do this if i make a mistake i can learn from it but they think ppl are going to shoot you of something since its a bad neighorhood

Heh, my parents are the same. They won't even let me go out with my friends.
 They think I'll get "kidnapped". Come on, it's a group of friends, not like I'm gonna be going out myself.  Anyways, you should tell the adult you're going with to talk to your parents. |

Yeah my mom is like that sometimes.. but she like doesn't trust me to even go to my friends house.. but then i clean my room and watch a t.v. show with her and gently ask her.. hehehe it works for me :)

my parents are JUST like that. my dad says i cant get a job until im 18, i cant go to any concerts until im 18, i cant date until im married but cahnged it to 18, [i do anyway i just dont tell them] etc etc etc. yeah. i dont know if you are asian but asian parents tend to be like that. it pisses me off.
oh, and i cant quit piano until im 18. can`t forget that. and i can`t do AIM until im 18. but i do it anyway. |

my parents used to be like that.. but i've just gained their trust & let them really see that i'm not a bad kid & i wouldn't do anything bad. they let me go places and aren't really like that anymore.
it just means that your parents care & want the best for you.. even if just going to a concert doesn't mean that won't happen. it tends to happen if your the only child OR if your the 1st child because .. your their first & all.. they want you to succeed. well i dunno, i guess. but just gain the trust and have the parent that will be with you talk to your parents? maybe if they get the reassurance of the parent as an adult they will understand. good luck! hope it works out for ya!

thanks for all your help
the conecerts out of the questions now though  I'll never see them in concertoh and no I'm not asian but my parents act like it strict and all my dad even has a problem with my walking to the local WaWa by myself or even with a friend or my brother and it's around the corner. I can be there in 5-10 minutes on foot.  But thanks for all your advice I'll use in in other situations edittt Yeah and I am the first so I guess that explains some of it

work out a deal with them, show them ur responsible. after im ungrounded i get to go out before 9 with anybody i want. |

Aww overprotective parents can be annoying sometimes. Mine aint though. They let me go on this 45 minute train ride to this radio concert thing when I was 12 with a bunch of friends at the same age for the whole day. I still go every year
