That is just stupid. You sound younger than you actually are. Just because teachers are enforcing safe sex, that does not mean that they are saying GO HAVE SEX NOW. They are just realizing that teenagers do/will infact HAVE SEX. At least now they will have protection. Why would you want kids to have unprotected sex?

i think that they should be handed out at school because kids having sex while in school is pretty much inevitable and handing out condoms would help to slow down or even stop pregnancies.

but i also think that handing them out is bad because it could be giving the kids a message that it is alright to have sex just as long as you are wearing a condom.

Oh god *throws up hands* If people dont practice safe sex then it is usually the ones that say "condoms should not be promoted in school...blah blah" who will then turn around and say well the baby/std is what they deserved because they didnt use a condom. Do realize how deadly AIDS is? I have come across many people in my lifetime (20 year old college student) who have aids. People you wouldnt even expect. Christian people, rich people, kids as young as 4, and many more. And trust me seeing a 4 year old on her death bed because her mother was never was educated about safe sex is the most heartbreaking thing i have ever seen in my life. Its silly to whine about not promoting safe sex at school when AIDS/STDS affects so many people on all different levels. Sure you can throw morals up in the mix, but not everyones morals is the same, and for that we have to cover all the bases starting with schools. And if people are willing to take the risk of having sex after they are done with the sex education then at least what could be the consequences of it. And thats the way I see it. I think safe sex should be promoted and condoms handed out so people will use their minds and not their hormones.

example. what about PG movies what if its ok to say "Shit" "fcuk" or "ass' there is a chance that those little kids will repeat those words. and just like sexual content on rated R movies .. in a couple of more years they are gunna push the boundaries and show full nudity in movies. and there are also kids watching those rated r movies cause its ok when they watch it with their parents.

and i kno it is a fact that teenagers have sex during high school years because of my friends i know many of my friends who arent virgins. using condoms does prevent a lot of sexual transmitted diseases but still in my morality i dont think sex should be promoted. i dont know if my high school gives out condoms but i think they should. but not enforce, hey go out and have sex.

yeah, I kind of agree with you about being torn between the two
I mean yeah it will slow down pregnancies
but at the same time encourage sex...which is no good

Whether or not they are encouraging safe sex or just sex is opinions. Sammi has the right idea. If someone hands a kid a condom, the kid has a choice to use it or not. It's that simple. He doesn't have to use it.

Yeah. Use your head. Handing out condoms isn't promoting sex. If you feel obligated to have sex because of this, you're a ridcuolous person. You are in control of your own actions....I think it's a great idea.

Saying that handing out condoms promotes teenage sex is like saying that everyone will buy a pack of smokes when theyre 18. Of course you can get them, but if you don't like to smoke.. you wont. ^ to me in my opinion it does promote sex. its saying that sex is ok you can do it. i know what you mean by "its YOUR CHOICE" cause it is your choice. but still like if i had sex right now ,im 16, then next generation the average age for teens to have sex goes down to 14 years old (they still have sex cause its "ok") and in the next generation it goes down to 12 and so on and so on. your pushing the limits when you say its ok to have sex especially at such a young age. and i know i dont want my 12 year old having sex (protected or not)
