Devise uses tiny chip to warn of unpleasant odors

Updated: 4:11 p.m. ET Sept. 22, 2004 BERLIN - A German telecommunications company said on Tuesday it is developing the first mobile phone that will alert users when their breath is bad or if they are giving off offensive smells.

The phone will use a tiny chip measuring less than one millimeter to detect unpleasant odors, a spokeswoman for Siemens Mobile said. A research team in the southern city of Munich is developing the device using new sensor technology.

“It examines the air in the immediate vicinity for anything from bad breath and alcohol to atmospheric gas levels,” the spokeswoman said. “Some people take smelling good rather seriously.”

laugh.gif that`s interesting....i wonder how much it would cost for that kind of phone. i mean..what`s next with cellphones these days? ermm.gif

Phones that are so small, you can't believe it even their until you hear something ring and think you are losing your mind.

I heard of a phone that is connected to your house alarm and security cameras at home so you know what going on when you out.

hahah that would be really wierd. What if you were talking to someone on your cell and then your breath reeked. Then the phone makes a siren sound (like a police car) and then a loud voice coming from the speaker is shouting "BAD BREATH ALERT! BEWARE! TAKE A BREATHMINT!"

haha how embarrassing but funny at the same time!

Haha, that's funny. Usually people can tell if they have bad breath don't they?? Seems uneccessary, but maybe necessary for people who don't brush their tongue tongue.gif
