He hasn't died yet-

• VATICAN DENIAL | 1:55 p.m. ET

The Vatican denies reports that Pope John Paul II has died.

HOPE FADING? | 12:21 p.m. ET

Ansa News Agency is reporting that medical sources are saying there is no more hope for the pope.

• MEDICAL UPDATE | 12:04 p.m. ET

Vatican spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls releases the following medical bulletin:

"The general conditions and cardiocirculatory conditions of the Holy Father have further worsened. A gradual worsening of arterial hypotension has been noted and breathing has become shallow. The clinical picture indicates cardiocirculatory and renal insufficiency.

"The biological parameters are notably compromised. The Holy Father — with visible participation — is joining in the continual prayers of those assisting him."

• 'SHALLOW' BREATHING | 11:59 a.m. ET

The Vatican issues a statement saying the pope's condition has worsened. His breathing "has become shallow" and his kidney function is deteriorating.

I feel bad that the Pope is very sick, but I don't really feel sad. It's not like he is dying at a young age, and everyone has to die at a certain point. He didn't live a wasted life. And wouldn't he go to heaven? So I'm won't be very sad if he died.

unfortunately, the reason why he is slowly dying is because he has parkinsons disease. with that disease, his muscles pretty much become, non functionable and that's why he is having trouble breathing, the muscles around his lungs can't function anymore. same thing for his kidneys.

regardless if you are religious or not, realize that this magnificent man made an huge impact on a lot of people. God Bless You Pontiff.

Why would you have oh my flucking god as a title for a topic about the Pope?

He's not dead yet. He is barely alive though.

I'll be praying for him, since I'm Catholic and all.

It's the end of an era for us in the Catholic Church... It's hard to believe he's in his final leg in life...after all these years...I still remember when I was in 2nd grade when I watched this documentary of the death of Pope John Paul I and how Karol Wojtila became the Holy Father... Dang I remember in the documentary the procedure that the College of Cardinals select a new pontiff...can't believe that it's going to be time to see this once more...

"John Paul II, who led the Roman Catholic Church for 26 years and helped topple communism in Europe while becoming the most-traveled pope, died Saturday night in his Vatican apartment after a long public struggle against debilitating illness. He was 84."

I got that from yahoo.com news. That really sux, but at least the pope's found happiness and isn't suffering anymore.
