I really try not to say gay

And if someone says "Omg my teacher is being soo gay" I always respond "wooooah they are having sex with another guy?!" That usually stops em.

the word "gay" is now used to describe anthing that someone doesnt like. for example:

"you're so gay" = "you're so annoying"
"that song's gay" = "i dont want to listen to that stupid song"
"that hw was so gay" = "im too stupid to understand my hw"

"Gay" = "Stupid" nowadays.

My friend used to say that a lot, his gf didn't like it. Now he at least type "gh3y" instead of "gay" when he uses the word in chats, because apparently "it's a word with meaning by itself, not related to the 'gay' word" lol.... pinch.gif

QUOTE(MarchHare2UrAlice @ Mar 30 2005, 7:57 AM)
this irritates me to no end.

firstly: something like a song cannot be gay. it doesnt love other male songs

secondly: to use teh word 'gay' as an insult is not only ridiculous, but offensive. if soemone went around saying 'black' everytime something bad happened, they would be yelled at like theres no tommorow. why should 'gay' be any different

please dont use it, its offensive, uneccessary, and makes you look like a cretin

plus it pisses me of

have a nice day
*

I agree with you, on that... thats for sure but it depends??? biggrin.gif

EDIT 1: I forgot to say... gay can also mean very very happy, THATS WHAT IT USED TO MEAN B4 THE 20TH CENTARY... but now it means a guy who "loves" or (you know what i mean) another guy.

EDIT 2: GAY IS NOW USED IN LIKE, 3...4..5.. WAYS. wtf IS WRONG WITH THAT??? SO IT CNA BE AN INSOLTE (<--CANT SPELL IT), YOU ARE GAY...SOMETHING IS GAY(STUPID)...THATS JUST WEIRD!

Yeah, that's what I was saying. The meaning has been altered and when used it's not in the derrogatory way.

Yeah, I agree. It does irritate me when the word 'gay' is used in that manner because it's not relevant to the meaning, but yeah...I don't like..explode over it. To me, it's annoying, but not to the point where I'm exasperated.

mad.gif grrrrr hate HATE HATE when people use the word gay as an insult - should only be used in the correct context and otherwise be put away with 'insults' such as gypo, thieving arab and leper. should be abolished. People who use it are just ignorant and immature and should be stamped out.

anyway i am a nice person really whistling.gif

I agree with you. "Gay" should only be used as an insult towards homosexual people/behavior.

^^^

WTF!!!

it shouldnt be used as an insult AT ALL!

you wouldnt insult someone by saying 'blue-eyes' so why insult them for something equally out of their control... ignorance is bliss they say. 'they are stupid'

Like it matters. Over the years the term "gay" being used to describe something that is wrong or used to insult someone has become the social the norm in spite of the fact that most people think it be immature, including myself. Where do we draw the line though, should we stop saying something "sucks" because it's taken out context?

no, b/c 'sucks' is not a term for a specific group of people who are offended by people taking their sexual orientaion to the level of a derogatory comment.

i didnt say it wasnt common. i said it shouldnt be, and i was expressing displessure

I am extremely offended by this because I'm gay, and nothing is wrong with being gay. I'm just like everyone else!!

April Fools.
But still, it bothers me too.

I didn't say you said it wasn't common. To be fair I agree with you on that it shouldn't be used out context, but what can you do?

Personally I don't think saying something is gay is derragotory towards homosexuals, keyword being "something" but saying someone is gay with the intent to insult said person is bad but that has to do with the fact that it was meant to be insulting and slanderous.

Well, lots of hostility.

Yeah, I hear a lot of people in my school, but I go to school with a bunch of farmers and country people, so, they are mostly homophobic anyway.

Anyway, I love gay people. My french teacher at school is, Hes the greatest. One of my best friends is gay, so, yeah, I take very much offense to that..
