I got mine pierced when I was 13... and I was soo nervous to get in the chair. But I just reminded myself how much I had wanted it done. The needle kinda scared me, but it looks more painful than it actually is. My experience was a little different though... he couldn't get it all the way through halfway into the piercing, so he kinda had to put umph into it.. lol because he said my skin was tougher or something? But I'd say letting it get infected and then trying to change the ring hurts waaaay more than the actual piercing does.

whoever you get your belly piercing by should tell you how to properly keep it up to avoid it getting infected. as for me i would like to get one in the summer perhaps

that makes sense... I got mine done during the spring, but it wasn't infected. I'd just be more careful, and clean it regularly!

I've done mine myself...like 4 times. of course my mom makes me take it out...then I re-pierce it later. It doesnt hurt that bad. Different people have different tolerances of pain cool.gif

i got mine pierced over the summer when i turned 13. i figured it would hurt a lot, but i was wrong. i guess it was because the lady who pierced me said the she was going to squeeze the clamp so i would feel a little pressure. when it hurt a little, i figured the needle would hurt much worse. to my surprise, the lady actually stuck the needle through immediately after she put the clamp on without me knowing. i think thats why it didnt hurt; a lot of pain just comes from your mind, and i wasnt expecting it. anyway, i have had it for about 7 months or so.. and its been great! biggrin.gif

Well.. all kinds of piercings contain a risk of infection. If you really want it that much, go for it.

No, you might be doing an activity that could get it infected that you don't normally do during other seasons, but it not the fact that its summer that gets the peircing infected.

It doesn't hurt much but you build it up to hurt more. I've had mine for 5 months now, and I've changed it........even though your soposed to wait at least 6 months, but I had a peircer look at it to tell me if it was healed enough. They get infected really easilly, so be careful.---> See theres less blood flow there to clean out the peircing: thats why its easilly infected, and why it takes a while to heal.

The yellowish-whitish stuff that can come out is a sort of discharge that happens when its healing, or when its infected. --->You hear about "custies" that form around the peircing while healing, thats the dried discharge.

You have to wash your peircing. NO alcohol, that dries out the peircing, plus it will help close the peircing! Remember how ther use it on cuts and scarpes? Well thats to help them heel closed.

Also you have to do salt water soaks.

.....................I need to shut up.

not really...but then after its peirce and you want to remove it..your going to have a hole in your stomach forever and sometimes it can get infected

I think it looks nice.. but you should get it.. somewhere near college or a little before, because if you do it too young, I heard it could like.. rip-out or something bc your body is still growing and your skin stretches or something like that

the reason it's better not to get it done in the summer but instead maybe right after is because if you get it done in the summer you can't swim!! cuz i guess it's not supposed to get wet for three months.... but ya I have tonz of friends who have gotten it done and it looks great! It gets easily infected but just take care of it!
