depends where I guess.
If it's an abandoned building it could be art, if it's like a school or business, then it would be crime.
Thats how I see it.

i agree with you

depends on the type. some can be awful, but some can be left with a meaning..i mean it usually is both. it is a crime becuase its illegal and all. and someone owns the property, which is wrong to write all over it. but it depends on the message.

art, if it's pretty. like alot of times i see these huge murals of just a word or something, nicely colored and stuff. and thats alot better than just a few crappy scribbles. but generally, i take it was crime if its on private property, like a truck or a house. but if it's on some empty factory wall, then whatever.

To me, it depends on where it's done, like what everyone else said.

But some graffiti is really, really pretty.

Like most people said, it really depends on what kind of graffiti you're doing.
I hate people who just scrible their name on the walls. It's not even colorful!
But beautiful graffiti with lots of colors and actually like a painting, that's art.

Most of the time I think it's a crime.. Other times when I KNOW it's legal, it's not. It's legal if it look slike the building or wall was grafiti-fied in a way that sends a message or something.. It looks more like art, rather than something done really quick and messy. I see a lot of the quick and messy stuff, and IMO, it's lame, no offense to anyone who does it. I'm sick of having to see people writing "blah blah blah gang" and stuff like that on walls. I feel sorry for this one truck that got tagged up and repainted then tagged up again. ermm.gif

Only to a certain extent, would I consider it as art. Now, if the person DREW something and wrote stuff in graffitti-style on a paper or a poster, I think that's art becuase they're expressing themselves and not damaging property.

I think if you do it on a building somewhere, it's crime. And tho it doesn't seem all that artistic to me, if its not on like, public or private property, sure it's art. biggrin.gif

Graffiti itself is art, but if you do it on a building I think it'd be considered as a crime for vandalism.

it looked really nice (make it stand out from the other shops laugh.gif)

so it depends what you use it for

ART!!! provided it is non-vulgar... there are limits... but the grafitti that isnt slandereous is art... and that is why some art grafitti murals are left up around us (well also b.c my down wont pay to have em removed lol)

it depends, but in most cases its crime.
because a lot of people obviously cant tag for sh*t, they just look like a bunch of scrippled letters

If you do it on your own property, it's art.
Do it somewhere else without permission, you're a criminal.

Would it be called art or crime if it were to be a vandalism that represents good message to all?
