I am Christian so i don't belive in it. In the 10 commandements it says that killing is a sin, either way you put it if the president decides to support it he's comitting a sin. I think that the criminal should have a chance or forgivness in some sense

i don't believe in it cause it's sadistic and useless. killing the criminal would not bring anyone back. i rather let them rot in a jail cell with absolutely nothing (which is cruel and unusual punishment). it's sadistic because so many people are rallying to have one person killed. correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't the victims families allowed to watch the execution? or did they eliminate that?

I don't think its bad at all. Why let them rot away in jail. If it says in the commandments "thou shall not kill" then the people commiting the crimes definitally don't believe in them, therefore they shall get the punishment that the bestowed on their victim.

I think it's wrong, but if there wasn't a death penalty, a lot of people probably wouldn't be scared to go murder other people..

i think that the death penalty is good. we have it in texas and we use it! shifty.gif people probably won't do crimes if they know that they could die. and we had to switch from the gas chamber to the injection. i like to see them suffer. hammer.gif

I don't think its right...Only because two wrongs don't make a right. That's the only reason. Though I admit, if someone killed someone in my family, I would want them dead. Or if anyone harmed my daughter, I would want them dead. :-/

But I'd like to think that I wouldn't want them dead, because some people who die deserve life, and some people who live deserve to die, and we don't have the right to make that decision....

I've made the argument so many times I'd rather just say 'yes, the death penalty needs to be in place'.

Dude...WTF is wrong with society these days
Of course we need the death penalty
We need to rid our planet of sick, perverted monsters such as Pedophiles, Necrophiliacs (one who fuks dead people), Abasiophiliacs (one who fuks Retards), Capitalist Oppressors, Monarchs, Royalists, Nazis, government officials, junkies, Celebrities (only pathetic ones such as Girls aloud, Boyzone, Blue, Atomic Kitten, Backstreet Boys, ect...) (cool Celebrities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Russel Crow, Zhang Ziyi must be spared and join our effort to termiate gay celebrities)

We shouln't have electric chair, leathal injections, firing squad, ect...

We should force the unrighteous into gladiador arenas where they will fight to the death for the honest working peoples entertainment

Your stoic response soon became a response of ignorant babbling.

Death is death. It's bad enough that a coward would murder a man but its even worse for the state to act as that coward. Personally, I'm into torture, but thats just me.

Rid the world of celebrities? Were you tormented by someone more popular than you as a kid?

Join the effort to terminate gay celebrities? Find an iron rod and fornicate yourself.

It really just depends on what they did.

I think if someone goes around killing people.. maybe, they should, why should they have the right to live when those other people didnt?

But I dont know.. it just depends.

homicide of any sort is wrong. this includes capitol punishment. it's like saying "hey, don't f**king swear". we should spend more time figuring out how to prevent crimes from happening than figuring out how to punish those who do them.

"We should force the unrighteous into gladiador arenas where they will fight to the death for the honest working peoples entertainment"

"We need to rid our planet of sick, perverted monsters such as... Monarchs, Royalists..."

^ no more talking for you.

"He served a lousy 20 years in jail for demolishing every bit of potential to lead an excellent life that Pamela had. Who knows, maybe she would have been the person to find a cure for AIDS? Guess we'll never find out."

and you overlook the $160 billion that could have been put twards curing AIDS? the 160 billion that went to weapons to KILL people. the very crime the death penalty is used for.

it's funny how conservatives think Saddam Hussein is such an evil, mad man for killing his own people, but then when GW does it it's allright.

get a grip, conservatives

right. ^that was constuctive.

i really dont think we need the death penalty. why shouldn't a person rot in jail for the rest of their lives and think about what they did? what's wrong with that? why the hell do we hafta kill them? they kill someone so lets kill them yeh that makes sense.

Well, I have two points of veiw on the death penalty:

As a Christian no, I don't believe in the death penalty. Obviously, as you've probably heard time and time again, Jesus forgives peoples sins and demands that we do the same. Killing someone in return for the pain they've caused others is definately not forgiveness.

However, as a typical American, I have to say that I somewhat believe in it. If someone knowingly hurts others, should they not have the same thing done to them? An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, right? And I mean if others had to die at their own expenses, and the life was taken from them by a certain someone, should that certain someone not have to give up his own life also? But then again, you have to consider that if you were the one being dried for death, you wouldn't want to be killed for your past. There is always a change awaiting to change yourself for the better.

So, all in all I see both points of veiw. As a total though, I am against the death penalty because of my faith mainly and also because if I were in such a position, I would be blessed to recieve a second chance. After all, that's what Jesus gave all of us, is it not? A second chance is promised to you in heaven.

i'm completely against the death penalty.

clearly, this topic is difficult to debate, since people differ morally, and both sides have compelling moral arguments. personal morals are pretty difficult to contradict. however, for the time being, most people in america are for the death penalty. thus, capital punishment will remain in this democratic nation, until the majority shifts its values.

Its very difficult to debate. I've noticed that many people try to justify murder. I don't see how. Whether it is by the hand of a commoner or by the hand of the state; murder is murder. An eye for an eye doesn't make it right.
