I'm gonna take a venture here and say you're a black belt. What degree, might I ask?

Welcome to the club.

Jiu-Jitsu (Japanese)
Kali (Filipino)

Those are the ones I want to take. I'm opposed to Tae Kwon Do because the 3 different times I've tried it, the lessons were pretty much just 3 hours of remembering poses.

i want to take up boxing and wrestling. i think those are more practical in street fights. some martial art forms are useless, but not all of them.. only some of them..

ha, yeah right. ok heres the break down for the fighting styles

wrestling= for big fat people in my opinion.

judo= good luck with that! alot of throwing that was tough.

Judo. ^_^ I only took a few months of it before my instructor had a baby and decided that she wanted to become a full-time mother (*rolleyes* lol ;)), but it was pretty interesting. Tough, but interesting.

whoa there my friend, i need to mention that kung fu is the basis of streetfighting. contemporary sparring style is street fighting, pretty much, unless you're completely into guns.

karate might be cliche, but they have discipline. is there anybody in here who does karate? it's all conditioning. good stuff. judo's really useful; i have a friend who's been taking it for a long time.

i've never seen aikido. sorry. but i've wanted to! same thing with kendo.

taekwondo, i'm sorry to say, if you don't train korean, then .. i don't support it. reasons why, i don't want to post publicly because i don't want to accidentally insult somebody.. pm me if you really want to.

jujitsu- that can also be used as streetfighting. it's good conditioning.

kendo? .. isn't that japanese swordfighting? i've never seen any of it, but i've always wanted to. people tell me fencing's better though, which i have seen (and tried).. but i can't say that.

i'm babbling. but i'm having fun, so, off i go again.

dayumn...i like how no one mentioned weapons! haha weapons, boxing, n' juijitsu man...all the way! haha plus Ima girl so ish funny when guys find out dh@ you've been takin weapons n' mess..N/Ehoo, weaponsis tyte cuz...yooh use weapons! shit, need i say more?(ahha) boxing is cool just because you move around...or maybe dh@s juss me...juijitsu is awesome cuz you learn how to twist ppls arms n' do "rainbow" n' flip them...haha awesome...Karate is tyte too(seishin ju ku) so is taekwon do haha sry ya'll Ima martial arts chik biggrin.gif (c'mon, ish mai asian syde!)

weapons are fun. but i don't really understand exactly what you mean, because most martial arts i've taken have weapons in them.. and.. um.. i just don't get it. i'm working on wushu straightsword form right now.. i have it down, it's just sloppy. pretty fancy stuff. my bro gave me his old sword after he got his new one. ohh and with the whole "arm-twisting" you've been talking about.. we do that too in kf in a two man form i'm learning right now. grappling is so awesome. ahhhh.

hoorah for northern kung fu and wu (hao) tai chi! guys.. if you've taken it, you know why. i'm only taking kf right now.. i couldn't fit tc in my schedule. it should be less clogged up now that we're moving to a new school.. it's a lot closer.

is anyone going to taiji legacy 05? my sifu (jimmy k wong) hosts it. i love watching the shaolin monk kids from china.. they're so disciplined. i wish i could live like that.. just shaolin all day. _smile.gif i'm jealousss.

martial arts nerds unite! laugh.gif i can't believe i ever thought nobody else on cb was interested in this sort of stuff. <3

kung fu superheroes, to the rescue! we can fly too.

Dude...Karate, TaeKwonDo, Aikido and just about all Traditional Martial Arts suck because the techniques are impractical and the idea of being a battlefield art is so f**kin lame. Traditional Martial Artists (ones I know anyway) seem to believe they are real life Samurai or Matrix guys. They live in a fantisy world, especially Aikido guys who think they can throw people with lame thumb locks and wrist manipulations. Man, Ive Grappled with Judoka with their iron, death grips and that Aikido shit don't work. And TKD condradicts its purpose as it is supposed to be for a small guy to defeat a larger guy, but all the kicks seem to be aimed at the head, surely defeating the object. I trained in Karate for 4 and an half years and I foung its techniques were inefficient and resulted in me still getting my tush kicked by the elementary school bullies.

Modern arts are the best:
Machado (Brazilian) Jiu Jitsu is now what I train as my Primary Marcial Art and is one helluva kick ass combat system, so complex and beautiful, probably the premiere ground fighting system. If you don't understand its significance just see how many Fighters use it in UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship)
Viva a Jiu Jitsu
Greco-Roman Wrestling is an excellent standing grappling system, imperative for real combat as well as complementing my Jits.
Wrestling is hella cool. The art of the upper body clinch

Judo is also a workable, effective Martial Art that also complements my Jits.
The art of the cloth clinch

Sambo is also awesome as it especializes in various Suplex (cool, deadly, effectine move) as well as including a huge plethora of leg locks.
Dude, is Sambo is good eneugh for the Russian Spetznaz, its good eneugh for any mofo.

Karate and TKD are as useful as a condom vending machine in the holy vatican.
They are f**kin useless
A real, superior art would be Muay Thai, afuckin evil, sadistic combat sytem including knee strikes, elbows, clinch work, ect...
