You don't need love to be happy/successful in life.

I don't think it's necessary, but if it comes along in life, then that's great.

I just get the feeling a lot of people have never felt the strong bond of love between two people. There's no way I could live without my boyfriend (3 years wub.gif ) We've got so much planned and I can't even explain how strongly we feel for eachother. I guess it just depends on if you've loved like that..

It is better to have lived and loved then to of never loved at all laugh.gif

1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not selfseeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails...

not really. cause you need it to live life. without it, i think that someone would commit suicide because they would be all alone and have no one to turn to, no one to love, no one to give love back to, no on to give comfort to, etc. plus, they'd see all these other people with love and would make them depressed.

However way you look at it, you'll encounter love at some point in your life. Love in the romantic sense may not be for everyone. That loving energy can be concentrated in loving family and friends or caring for people out of instinct. And if none of the above is for you, then you'll die happily lonely in your own narcissistic ways. We cannot live without love.

Everyone needs love, you can't live without it. Everyone needs that type of companionship and strong feeling for someone or something; it's human nature. Just like Seon Ho said that if you leave an animal by itself long enough it will die, it's the same with people. They need those interactions and those relationships that come from love. Whether it's platonic love as in love for your friends and family or a more romantic love (I can't remember the specific name) which is for your significant other. Even the love for tangible products like your car or your cds. Either way everyone needs it. I don't think someone could go around without putting that attachment (love) onto something, like food, your brother, computer, cell phone, your girlfriend, your cat, etc. I mean, sure you might not just keel over and die, but inside you'll be dead and you'll just physically be alive; breathing, walking, talking.

Look at it this way. If you were living a life without love, there would be whatsoever no affection for anything at all. Therefore, you wouldn't love your life, yourself. And you would die. There's no such thing as life without love. You see a pencil. Oh yay. Do you hate it? No. Therefore you love it - your denial is because you have taken it as a tool. But if there were no writing tools, how would we get through? The reason why the human race keeps building up technology is because we love ourselves to the extent of finding better things for ourselves. If we didn't have love, we wouldn't even eat, because we wouldn't love food. We would eventually shun it.

In medical terms... maybe if we have a life without love, we'll cry until we dehydrate.

I don't think we can live without love we all have to love something a pet, a prized possesion, and even a person. I mean if you hate everything in the world and don't value ANYTHING then why live.

Well, I believe it depends on your definiton of alive.

Take your example:
If someone's definition is physicly alive, then of course (unless you decide to kill yourself. wacko.gif )

If someone's defintion is spiritualy, then possilby.

I guess it depends on the kind of love and the strength of the love and, most importantly, the strength of the person. Some people could go on, some couldn't.

Living without love is just about possible, because you will have hope that love is coming. Could a person live without love AND the hope that it will come, i dont think so, self destruction would come quick if you realised that even the hope's gone.

I don't know...

After reading the Sound and the Fury, I realized how much of a negative impact the lack of love can cause to a human being's personality, soul, and mind completely. I'm sure there are those who believe they can live without love in the romanticized form, but I believe, in the end, we all need some form of positive relationship, whether you can call it love or not, to continue living a satisfied life. We can all pretend that we will "be strong and carry on" without any sort of love at all, but isn't love really the basis of almost everything?

There are many different forms of love.
Many dog-owners cherish the fact that dogs are always loving, and they never hold grudges.
New parents are recommended to be affectionate and loving towards their new babies, because it's proven to have a positive effect on the child later on.
I say love is the basis of almost everything because it can be interpreted so widely, just like religion. For example, our unalienable rights come from the fact that we love ourselves. That may sound narcissistic, but it really isn't; we love ourselves enough to come up with these ideas of what we deserve.
Religion definitely comes to mind when speaking of love. If God is something man-made, man has made a God who loves everyone, proving the importance of a love from even an invisible creator.

Most of us who are living happily have plenty of love. Whether it be from a parent, a friend, an animal, a God, or even an imaginary friend, we still search for that healing, defining bond.
