I have this very strong belief that your true love is your first and only love and that is who you will spend the rest of your days with (granted you ever fall in love or if things work out like you'd like them).

Love at first sight? Yes.

High school sweethearts getting married- My grandparents got married at 18 and my grandmother just passed away 3 years ago. Til death...

I'm 17 years old and I believe that I can meet my wife, the girl of my dreams, my soulmate, my yang, etc. tomorrow and, through good times and bad, live a life of happiness.

You pessimists will get a good kick out of sh*tting all over my "hopelessly pathetic" idea of love, but it's just something that I believe to be true.

I don't agree that the first love is always your true love, nor do I believe in love at first sight.

However, I agree with everything else. High school sweethearts? My grandparents were also high-school sweethearts, and my parents met right out of high-school.

good for you.

by the way...
love at first sight is bs.
it's only for the person's looks, and so that means you're shallow.

Not exactly. I haven't quite experienced 'ove at first sight' but I have felt a strong emotional connection with a girl I didn't know. Turns out, she and I ended up dating for a year.

Yeah, I agree with you. I'm in love with my boyfriend, and I believe that we are soul mates and destined to be with each other for the rest of our lives.

Most people's "First Love" is or will not be their "True Love". Mine wasn't.

I don't believe in love at first site. It's usually just lust. Love is too great a thing to determine the second you see someone.

Yes, I do believe that True Love can come at anytime. I personally met my current bf when I was 16 a Junior in HS and he was 19 a Freshman in college. And I'm 21 now and he's 24 and I know without a doubt that he's my True Love. When it comes down to it, it takes two people to devote themselves completely to each other for it to be True Love. If the relationship can withstand anything then it's True Love.

I don't believe in True Love at First Sight, either. I think it's lust, but there also would be a deep undercurrent of immediate connection, too.

However, I do think there could only be One True Love. It doesn't seem possible to have two, even if the first dies. No logic to it, just my opinion.

I believe that there is one true love out there for everybody but I don't think that your first love is your true love; mine sure wasn't. I think that most people will have this strong attraction for their first love, and that even after they "fall out of love" with their first love, there will always be some feelings for them. I know that even though me and my ex bf, who also happened to be my frist love, brokei up 4 months ago, I still have feelings for him.

As for love at first sight...I personally don't really believe in it. You can't really love somebody at first sight...I believe that yes, you can have strong attractions towards someone when you first meet them, but that's not love. That's lust. So I believe that you can fall in lust first sight, but not love.

As for the highschool sweethearts, yes they happen. And its not very common too ^^

If you've ever seen Friends, there's this one episode when Chandler and Monica talk about fate. Monica said something along the lines of "I don't believe in fate. I believe that there are certain people in this world that work better with other people, have personalities that are more compatible, but I don't think there is this one person for everyone." I have the same feelings.

^That made me laugh. Why? Because my friend's name is Yang. Yes, anyways....
I believe that you can only have one love as well, so your first love would be your true love but at the same time I'm a little unsure about it. I don't believe in love at first sight though. As far as I'm concerned, I think there is no such thing. There is LUST at first sight and later on this lust can develop into love and sure you can claim you were in love at first sight but that's all. Love is too big of an emotion, passion, whatever else, that it can't just be found from taking one look at someone. It has to be deeper and more meaningful than that. Also about highschool sweethearts, while very unlikely, it does sometimes happen. Those people who experience it are the few lucky ones. I'm also a hopeless romantic.

For a while I also believed that the concept of love at first sight was infatuation with lust. I'm not sure if I truly experienced this but I have met someone that I was istantly head over heels for and it wasn't at all based on her looks. Not saying that she wasn't pretty, her physical features didn't stick out, it was the way she carried herself and how she spoke. Hard to explain, I suppose.

Allow me to quote myself...

"You pessimists will get a good kick out of sh*tting all over my "hopelessly pathetic" idea of love, but it's just something that I believe to be true."

Don't get me wrong, my life isn't consumed about thoughts of love. For the most part, I don't really care and I hardly give it a second thought on a day to day basis. Since my ex and I broke up, I haven't put forth the effort to meet new girls so this topic never really surfaces.

Was that a compliment about my romanticism being somehwat Shakespearean by mentioning Romeo and Juliet? Or was it a subtle insult?

Eyyy, Shakespeare owns.

I believe in infatuation at first sight, but not love. But there's always the possibility of infatuation turning into love once that relationship is mutual.

And there's always the possibility of marrying your high school sweetheart. Big deal. It's just a period of your time. The younger you are, the less likely you'll find your true love. (Alternatively, the older you are, the more people you've met, so the possibilities are higher)

Shakespeare does own. Othello is a classic.
AND, I completely agree with you.
