Even if they are death metal, they'll usually order a cd if you ask them.
I've had to do that in several shops. I don't believe places like that charge for the shipping/delivery of the cd either.
*

well, yeah, but i can do that at bn.com too with free shipping and a 10% discount on everything. i've just always to go to some indie record shop, and actually get to see all the cds and talk to someone who knows who i'm talking about, you know?

though they're not really that underground, i enjoyed the rilo kiley cd i got today. "spectacular views" would probably be my favorite song.

Eh Barnes & Noble overprice their cd.
If anything, just order from amazon.com and get used copies; Most of the time the used copies are in excellent condition; at least for me they have been.

Most record shops don't make you pay ahead of time either ;)
Just check out other shops, most can order a cd for you.
I believe Best Buy can do that as well; I haven't tried there before.

Yes, Broken Social Scene is great. I love how they portrayed kissing in "Lover's Spit".

I've been listening to Team Sleep a whole lot, lately.

Team Sleep - Cambodia

Download it. I guarantee all of you (who are into the morose, lo-fi sound) will fall in love with that song.

I would upload it for you, but unfortunately the shitty server I use doesn't let me upload music. If you'd like, you could IM me at oh oh the agony and I could send it to you.

Recommended:
Pretty Girls Make Graves - The Get a Way
(Though I don't like the middle quite as much as I should)

If you're into Eisley, you should try listening to Denali.
Denali - Time Away
They have this... eerie, melancholic sound to them.

For Rilo Kiley fans, try listening to Metric.
Metric - On a Slow Night
... or any other song by them.
I've been a Metric fan for years; they're awesome.

I personally prefer underground rock or (synth) pop. Do you live in the bay area?
