After 8 years of wearing glasses, I decided to make the switch to Contacts yesterday, problem is that I'm having one hell of a time trying to get them in! It takes me so long! I don't have any problems touching my eyes, but it just seems like they don't want to stay in. I mean we're talking 15-30 minutes to get ONE in. I love them, but did any of you who wear contacts have this much trouble in the beginning?

yeah i had problems putting them on in the beginning, try wetting them with the solution. it helps the contact 'stick' to your eye. or maybe your eyes are dry

I, personally didn't have any problems when I first had contacts. Sadly, I had to wear hard lenses for almost half a year, until my eyes started to become irritated. They were perscribed to me because my eyesight was rapidly decreasing, and hard lenses are created to keep the concaved shape of your eyeball.

Anyway, it'll take time for your eye to get used to wear contacts. I've been wearing contacts for about six years now, and now it's just an everyday occurance for me.

Just take some time out of the day to practice putting your contacts on, and taking them off. Make sure to wear them for little hours, so your eyes can get used to them.

Your doctor should've been there (or at least an assistant) to assist you with your contacts, and should've shown you techniques to remove/put in your lenses. If they didn't, I'd recommend calling them and asking them if they would be able to do that for you.

It's easier watching someone do it/help you, then reading about how to do it.

Well at least it didn't take you 3 hours!! LOL it took me 3 hours >.<;;

Eventually if you keep putting them on like practicing them by taking it off and taking it in, you will eventually get better at it. Don't worry, it will never happen like that. Also wet your contact a lot if your eyes are dry. And don't think while putting your contacts..cause if you think too much that you can't do or it hurts, then you won't eventually put them on, it will take hours and hours like it happened to me.

My doctor did show me the techniques and everything, and I did fine when I was there. I got then both in in about 10 minutes with minor mess-ups. When I took them out last night and then tried to put them back in this morning, I had all kinds of problems. I got the first one in after about 15 minutes, but I ran out of time before I had to go to school and never got the other in, so I ended up wearing my glasses.

I've been trying to put them in off and on since I got home from school ( about an hour and a half ago ) and no success with either one yet.

yeah, it's pretty difficult to get them in.. i t takes a lot of time, trust me. Although I wear them strictly for color once in a while, it's hard at first. Now it takes like 30 seconds to get them in. Ypu'll end up learning your own technique.

One of my friends just suggested putting my headphones on and turning them to maximum volume so I'm thinking about the music and not the contacts...

I used to have to wear glasses from like 1st grade to 5th grade. Luckily my eyes got better, Now i dont' have to. I know someone who got contacts, and she never wears them because she says that they make her eyes hurt.

I had some problems, like i would put them in and blink and then they would come out. But then i would turn them inside-out and try it again and then it would work. Sometimes when you put them in, it feels weird so you should just push the contact to one side and then let it slowly adjust back into the pupil of your eye. Sounds strange but it works. I've had them for a couple of years now so i can get them in like in a matter of seconds. It just takes time that's all.

Of course.

It took me 30 minutes to get in ONE the first time. I just couldn't stop blinking. But now, it takes me 5 minutes to put them both in. Just keep trying, and maybe avoid doing it in the morning as it will make you be late.

happy.gif the trick is to look up....so you don't see it coming in...and once on.....your eyeball....hold your eye open then move your eye around until the contact locks in place....if you blink you usually gotta start all over again...good luck...

i've had glasses for quite some years..it really sucks and once in a while i would try contacts on but i would never cooperate with them! theyre so frustrating and so hard to get used to so i know what you mean. but i think if you just keep on trying HARD AS you can and have many help and practice..you'll get used to it and like them. thats what recently happened to me. i decided to go for contacts once more and my friend who also wears contacts helped me out. she put it in for me and it took a while cause my eyes dont like opening wide for some reason but soon it got in and i felt so happy haha. now i think im gona be able to wear contacts!

-lens should always be wet and never dry
-when you put it in theres two ways. look up while inserting it or look directly at it. when you look way up while putting it in, and once you feel like its on your eyeball, keep your finger holding it against it and just look around crazy like slowly though. ex: up down left right over and over again until you feel like its in there and when you do. close your eyes and pat your eyelid slowly. i'd prefer you to use this method instead of lookin directly at it cause when you do it kinda stings and your eyes get kind of nervous and scared.

damn i wrote a lot. i hope you dont mind but hopefully it'll help!

Well, the first time that I put them on, I had some trouble. But after a while, you get used to it, and it only takes seconds.
