u cant lose ur virginity becuase that only happens during sexual intercourse even if your hymen has broken, the first time i wore one, i felt nothing and im 14 too. u can get applicaters. they tell you when to stop tried tampons becuase pads feel like..crap. and now, i love tampons.

LMFAO.

You can even tear the hymen from riding a bike. But in all honesty, there is no way to tell. Normally, you can by bleeding, but some girls don't even have a hymen, nor do they bleed if the hymen breaks.

Having sexual intercourse is the only way of losing your virginity.

If a tampon does tear your hymen, it does not take away your virginity. Common sense people.

This is taken from tampax.com

QUOTE
Will tampon use affect my daughter's virginity?

Dear Iris,

Hi. My daughter wants to use tampons, but I'm afraid that it will take away her virginity. I have heard that if you use tampons long enough and if you do the splits and active stuff like that then you can lose your virginity. Is this all true and should I let my daughter use tampons?

Thanks,
Wondering

Dear Wondering,

Virginity has to do with sexual relations...not using tampons or doing splits. Many young girls start using tampons early on because they are swimmers or athletes. The hymen, which partially covers and protects the opening to the vagina is so fragile that it is stretched or torn during many activities. I see no reason why your daughter couldn't use a tampon if she can read and understand the instructions for insertion and safe use. The decision is yours and hers.

Iris

^^^^dont type in all caps
too many topics on this already.
you cant really put it in that far to lose your virginty unless you use some super duper extra absorbant tampon. as long as you read the instrusctions, you'l be fine. and it doesnt really hurt. personally, it hurtrs more taking it out then putting it in.

You should have her go on the website for tampax.com; you'll see a question/answer quote I posted in the earlier replies that's from that website regarding tampons and virginity. Honestly now, your mother should know that losing your viriginity deals with sexual intercourse, and not the tearing of a hymen (most girls end up tearing it during sports/tampon use/don't even have one anyway).

Hun, just by inserting the tampon, really won't tear the hymen. You say that as if though we're shoving the tampon up there with violent force.

omg, you can?!?!?! that’s freaky...anyway, I've put it in as far as the applicator will allow and my hymen hasn't broken ermm.gif so ya....look, don’t think about how it's going to hurt, remember, it’s you who are doing it, if it hurts too much the first time just slowly ease it out and try at your next period. that’s what I did. It took me about 1 or maybe 2 periods to get it right, and to get used to it, but once you do, it's awesome. I totally sympathize with you cause I hate pads as well....grrr, annoying...I use tampons ALL the time...and when you buy a box of tampons in comes with directions, read them thoroughly than try putting in your first one. Just remember breathe deeply and take it slow, the more you put them in ,the less it will hurt to put them in…it doesn’t hurt me at all now, and it's been about hmmmm, 6 or 7 periods since I started using them...

..Don’t listen to anyone that says that tampons are really painful and they don’t' use them, they are just chickens and never got passed the first stage...Believe me, it took me a while and a few tears, but its well worth it for the results _smile.gif

EDIT

"And by-the-way, I’m only 14 and I heard some people say that it's "wrong" to wear a tampon when your too young or something??"

there is nothing wrong with wearing a tampon young, I started wearing tampons right when I had my first period and I was some where around 13....tampons are sent from heaven, EVERYONE should have the joy of using them! biggrin.gif

'virginity' in the social concept, no you can't lose it by just wearing a tampon because you are not losing nor gaining any type of satisfaction. HOWEVER in a medical concept, you are. Why is it termed your 'virginity'? Because that piece of skin, the hyman, symblozies your virginity, your innocence, you as a child. When that is broke, which is typically, during sex, you lose that sense of innocence and become an adult.

That hyman can be broken very easily. You can break that just by riding a bike. However, it's very likely you can wear tampons and ride a bike and when that time comes for sex, never actually had broken your hymen. Anyways.

Wearing a tampon doesn't necessarily hurt, it may be a bit uncomfortable at first because you know it's there and you aren't use to this sort of sensation. My only useful advice is to relax and calm down when inserting it and afterwards. When your vaginal walls are tense, this can cause problems. When inserting it, remain calm and for me, when your fingers touch your lips, to be frank. That's as far as you should push the tampon. For the first couple of times until you feel comfortable with wearing one, I'd suggest wearing a panty liner to be on the safe side.

Also, btw, the hyman is a very thin, thin, thin porus piece of skin so your period literally goes through it. It's not like .. blocking the entire opening, it's just sort of got a small piece through it. But, that's getting into to much detail. Just relax and you'll be fine!

^ Some girls aren't born with hymens.

That was a good post; usually though certain cultures deal alot with the hymen when it comes to virginity, but with American Culture, it's sexual intercourse.

Yeah, I know.. And there are some cultures that remove the clitoris, because wetness from a vagina is a sign of infidelity (i believe, maybe it was just aldurtery). I recently read an article on it, I was flabbergasted.

Sorry, what I meant to say is that I didn't know you could break your hymen by putting in a tampon, not losing your virginity, I'll edit it....

that's not what i meant. i mean like, when that layer of skin or whatever you call it that's inside ur..um..vagina or..well it's up there somewhere. i don't know what it's called pinch.gif
anyways, my health teacher said that if you put something in too far up, you can break that layer and technically you won't be a virgin anymore. i don't mean sex-virginity. i mean like, scientifically or whatever.  rolleyes.gif
i learned that like..two years ago in gr.7. haha, even my 11 year old cousin knows that. i'm surprised that so many people don't know..weird  blink.gif

not really.. you don't lose your virginity if that layer tears, it tears naturally.. so like yeahs.. -.-" even i know that, and im 11 laugh.gif
