you do not get what i mean by that miss

what i mean by that is that it does not have its "own people" yet.

and its not just me as i stated who means that. its a fact.

It is also a fact that if I am a citizen of that country, I can say that it is my country. Country is not defined by genes or race or birth for that matter... "my country" simply suggests I have citizenship.

"Technically", if you have American citizenship, you're American. You can be called Asian-American, African-American, Latin-American... etc with all those hyphens, but you'd still have citizenship. Citizenship marks you legally as American by the US Federal Government.

I'm sorry if I sound argumentative, know that I don't mean to be. It's just that people make me sad when they say these things with such ease. I feel like if I have to belong somewhere or be labeled as something by nationality, if not my birthplace, it might as well be a place of my own choosing. I belong somewhere on earth... right? And if I need to go to war (God forbid) and fight for the place which I call my own, then I should be able to go with the peace of mind of this battle cry: "I'm fighting for my country".

This isnt a dicussion about whose an amercian and whose country it is so dont get your selves all worked up about whether this is your country or not
