QUOTE(sadolakced acid @ Mar 6 2005, 12:52 AM) downloaded from online files are not at WAV quality. CDs are at WAV quality. no... Ipods are Lithium ions batterys... it doens't matter how you charge it. it's the heat that kills it; because it allos oxygen to leak into the battery and oxidize it. just be careful about letting it get too hot. (P.S. Lith. ions work better if not drained completely. No, eventually Li-ion batteries will die from charging, though they are stronger than their NiCd and NiMh counterparts and don't have the memory effect. It all has to do with the corrosion of the inside of the battery. It's a fact for all batteries. IIRC, heat just causes the chemical reaction to go faster, so your battery discharges more than usual. |

well, yea, it's going to die because the battery isn't completely sealed.
but there's nothing you can do about that; but the heat you can do something about. and i see no reason to each time drain and charge it completly. this will lower the battery life, as far as i see, because it will heat up the battery more. |

You don't have to intentionally discharge the battery since Li-ion has no memory effect, but it's not a bad thing if you're using it and it runs out. |

well, i was replying to the person who said to charge completly to make your battery last longer.
and they said this because ipod has a 'limited amount of battery charges.' |

i would rather carry around a ipod because it is much smaller than a typical cd player but ipods are too expensive. so i guess i should just stick with cd players.

Putting batteries in the freezer does not help, but store your batteries in slightly lower than room temperature. |

I prefer my iPod to my cd players, because you can have a huge range of songs instead of being stuck to one genre until you switch cds (unless you burn a mix cd...).

the iPod is completely over-rated. just look @ the poll!
i go with the mp3 player. compact, sleek, easy-going. c.d. players - go with rechargeable batteries. |

Either/or. I have no real preference for either, since each has its pros and cons.

but uhh... answering ur question.. umm... since i have an ipod, i go with the ipod. |

QUOTE(swe3ttemptasian @ Mar 5 2005, 7:47 PM) iPod duhh. But I heard after the batteries are recharged for a certain amount of times, the battery has to replaced for like, $90-$99? --->So for iPod users, everytime you charge, charge till it's full ![]() Thats if you are on the warranty, but the battery is supposed to last at least 6 months after the warranty lasts, so youre looking at around 250$ for replacing the battery, unless you do it yourself, which is next to impossible since the Ipod doesnt have any means of opening it, so the average technical impaired person would probably break their ipod anyway. Get something with a removable battery that can be easily replaced for very little cost if it doesnt hold a charge. Personally I love the Creative Zen Touch. 250$ for a 20gig one that has a 24 hour battery life and an FM radio. I mean, not much more ya need..except maybe the 40 gig one ![]() |

I would rather carry my mp3/cd player... because I don't like to hold a small, thin ipod around.
also ipod, you need to have to recharge battery. but cd player, you can always buy batteries and carry them with you without needed to plugging it with the cord. Well ipod is okay too because it holds more than 1,000 or 5,000 songs... but i rather have it on a cd hehe. so you can also listen to it on the stereo. |

Hmm, yeah I'd like an Ipod but I reckon the size's a bit too big. I don't mean the size of storage, yeah. I'm getting an Ipod shuffle cus it's tiny :)
