In the long run, YES.

Or maybe I'm just a tad too hopeful.

currently, no. the people in iraq are still being massacred, there's still extreme poverty and bad conditions..perhaps, in the long run, it will help, but i can't predict that.

as if the 200 billion came out of Bush's personal checkbook.

his duties in business, such as national defense and halliburten (sp?), have delivered him and his administration hefty profits.

I don't think the war is helping the people in Iraq in any way. No offense, but I think the US government shouldn't be butting into other countries problems, unless that country requested to.

From the beginning of the war til the end of it, I never supported it.

ive always thought that the high security thing is ridiculous. you can't go anywhere without feeling like a criminal. i also think that it's pathetic how people that are middle eastern automatically get sterotyped, as if they are terrorists. a middle american has the same opprotunity as a middle eastern to harm America. So, why are the middle eastern people getting treated differently? I really don't understand. There's no logic to it.

People die because they are addicted to smoking, too, but I know you don't think smoking is stupid.

People die in all wars. Whether or not this one will yield long term positive or negative effect is yet to be known.

Wow... What did you expect? That terrorists or insurgents will put away their arms and submit to the laws of the barely-there government? Or that the US should leave and let the new government fend for itself after so many lives lost and so much money put into the efforts?

yes, it puts more cash in bush's pocket.

but theres SO much more good it does! this "war on terror" has killed thousands of people, caused gas prices to go waaaay up, completely killed the USA's economy, encouraged racism, has thrown the USA into a 200 billion dollar (and counting) deficit, has hurt so many people like you, and has the whole country paranoid about terrorism (remember the duct tape frenzy a few years ago?).

oh and i think the whole thing was good for the media, cuz everyone paranoid about getting attacked by terrorists is watching the news. THIS JUST IN: X PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED IN IRAQ!!! well, morons, guess whos fault that is? bush! for starting this stupid war, plunging the country into a deficit, screwing up the economy, then getting f**king reelected!!!

war on terror my ass. its to terrorize everyone to reelect bush, and it worked pretty well, added to the rigged e-voting machines >.<

Exaggerated much? "Completely killed the USA's economy"? mellow.gif blink.gif A critical factor of why gas prices will go up anyway is because of the world's thirst for crude oil is increasing every day. Go read "The End of Cheap Oil" from National Geographic magazine.

Everything else? There was only ONE thing I could agree with and that would be the deficit problem.

As for being paranoid about terrorism... isn't that a given? Racism IS NOT encouraged by the war, discrimination is encouraged by the 9/11 attack. The two events, though related, are different.

But what made me laugh my buttocks off was his/her statement that it completely killed US economy.

of course it killed the economy! how the hell do you keep the economy alive when you've got a war you're waging that costs a couple million a day?

Before the war, DJIA was ~9000. Now it's almost 11000.

hey, iraq is democracy-bound, as are many other nations. we're working toward increased stability here.. not complete stability, but we're working toward more of it. and development, too.

i'm very sorry about the discrimination that you've experienced, though; my school's actually pretty tolerant of various ethnic groups and religions. if anything happens in your school, be sure to calmly report the incident to your guidance counselor, teacher, or principal; this is a very, very serious matter, and schools must take action. you could also start an international club at your school, which promotes exposure to and tolerance of various cultures.
