I don't get your second question, but I'll answer the first.
To me, I think beginners should stick to the acoustic guitar. I am assuming that when you say 'regular' guitar, you mean acoustic. I believe the acoustics train the person's fingers. Amd maybe if you think you're good enough, you can go on buy the electric. ![]() And you don't have to make a whole new post to apologize. You can edit one the doubled posts. ![]() |

I had one lesson on acoustic and switched to electric. Electric is easier for me because the strings are thinner and easier to hold. I wouldn't go out and buy a new guitar though. Rent one or use one at the place where you're taking lessons. I used my uncles acoustic and then bought an electric (but thats because I taught myself)...so...do what feels most comfortable for you.

the only thing that's diff is that an electric guitar will sound diff without an amp, cuz that's where it'll sound like it does. but chord-wise, both electric and acoustic are the same.
i don't know why they'd be different... >_____< |

i've always wondered that too, and thought they were about the same, but i guess i was mistaken in that assumption. i personally want to learn acoustic, but like the others said, you should try out each one and see which you prefer.

Well, what kind of music do you want to play?
If you want to play soft, sweet, pretty music, get an accoustic. If you want to play loud, awesome, hard music, get an electric. I have a Fender Squier right now. I don't really like it.. I'm hoping on getting a new guitar for my birthday. By the way, for a good guitar site, check out http://mxtabs.net It has tons of awesome tabs and more. |

An acoustic G is good for chord learning and first timers. Know the basic chords before you move on to electric.
On the electric, there's many ways to adjust the sound of your G. The electric is good for bends and crazy solos. I suggest you practice with an acoustic guitar first. Steel string is loud and crisp, but hurts your fingers for a while. Also, tune you guitar lower than standard so that you can do bends easily. |

that's why you don't buy them both..use your friend's or something to start learning on.
but it's better to learn on acoustic. |

mkay, i started with acoustic guitar. There really is no difference between acoustic and electric other than the sounds they make (electric guitars can use distortions). The notes are all the same and and songs sound the same yada yada.
I suppose, if you're first starting, that you should buy an acoustic guitar because it usually costs less than an electric guitar. That way, if you see guitars aren't for you, you won't lose too much. Yep. But either way, guitars friggin rock. |
