no.....no one has called me "americanized" so far.....actually, i look more white than anything and the weird thing is that i'm more asian than anything.....i'm more korean than anything else. What i have been called before in the past was chink and asian chick. yep, that's basically it. My parents are the ones who really call me "americanized." i really hate that too. stubborn.gif i dont get parents sometimes.......*sigh*

i'm not trying to sound racist or anything, but all the asian people hang out with all the other asian people at my school...i'm asian and i can't stand that asian group, they're loud and obnoxious and so extremely rude...so, it really doesn't **** me off when people tell me i'm more amercanized...actually, my gramma [[she's white]] has had a big influence on me...see, women in the asian culture aren't respected enough and they are always doing what the MALE person is telling them to do...and asian women have to be quiet and listen to orders until they're married...i started to see this and my gramma told me that it was wrong, so i changed...that's what makes me "amercanized"...and the fact that i dont' like asian food, too spice pinch.gif ...so, if n e body gets to know me, they'll start telling me that i'm anythign but asian...

I did say "other asians".. not white ppl.. they can't tell the difference.

I'm confused. Was that implying that an entire RACE is ignorant?
Just because you haven't personally experienced the exact same thing doesn't mean you don't have the ability to understand or relate. I can relate your experience to one of mine, even though I am not Asian.

But since I'm not Asian, it doesn't matter to you, because I couldn't possibly understand.

not really.. most asians around here are either "americanized" or complete fobs. i do admit that i am quite white-washed, but what can one do but adapt to one's surroundings?

My brother is what is called too americanized. He was born and raised here. He hates rice, cant speak vietnamese, and basically just growing up like an american kid. He's rude and disrespectful towards my parents, which bugs the crap out of me. I'm gonna go beat him up now. muwahaha.

I consider Asian people to be Americanized or Whitewashed when they don't know a thing about their native culture or if they can not speak their native language.

i agree. if they don't know anything about their culture and traditions, and act "americanishly" i guess then, they'll be called americanized. i wouldn't want to be called americanized. i moved from japan and i consider myself more japanese than american...lol tongue.gif
