Who cares if marijuana is addictive, do me a favor go pull out an almanac and look up two things

# of believed deaths caused by cigarettes (per year) - 440,000
# of believed deaths caused by marijuana (per year) - 0

Whats more harmful?

yeah, thats what ive been thinking this whole time
imo cigarettes and alcohol are more dangerous than marijuana, though marijuana does have its side effects after excessive use.

QUOTE
Marijuana use also has the potential to promote cancer of the lungs and other parts of the respiratory tract because it contains irritants and carcinogens(12, 13). In fact, marijuana smoke contains 50 to 70 percent more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than does tobacco smoke(14).

QUOTE
Marijuana users usually inhale more deeply and hold their breath longer than tobacco smokers do, which increases the lungs’ exposure to carcinogenic smoke. These facts suggest that, puff for puff, smoking marijuana may increase the risk of cancer more than smoking tobacco.

QUOTE
Moreover, research has shown that marijuana’s adverse impact on memory and learning can last for days or weeks after the acute effects of the drug wear off(22, 23).

You were saying about cigarettes?

Full article here

And for the person you quoted above, tell him/her to read the same article. An article that has 43 sources I think is more believable than just one.

What a great topic!

Tis' true, marijuana is quite addictive as I use to smoke it myself. I havent smoked in almost a year now and I am proud to say that. I though oh I will try it and then if I do not like it I will not do it again. Pshh....I couldnt stop and it went on like that for almost a year, I would smoke almost everyday sometimes 2-3 times a day. Finally I started to get serious and I told myself that i needed to quit, it took some time, almost a month I think, and I did just that...QUIT.

It is such an addictive drug even if you tell yourself that it isnt...It really is. It has the same effect as smoking 4 cigs at one time. It is harmful to your health.

congrats on quitting! =] thumbsup.gif

Consider this hypothetical scenario: A teen just smoked some marijuana, and is half dillusional. He decides to stumble his way to his car to his girlfriend's house. 15 seconds after pulling onto the street he slams into an oncoming car. If he did not wear a seatbelt, he would be dead now. Let's say he didn't slam into a car, lets say he ran a red light because he didn't see it. A car slams into his side, crushing him in a brutally wasted death. Let's say that never happened. He made a California roll on a stop sign next to a school crossing.

Are these results more likely to happen to someone who didn't smoke marijuana in the first place?

ok..once again i'll say..there are reasonable arguments against the beleif that marijuana is addictive...so why dont u try looking that up on google or yahoo....notice that there is no argument about cigarettes, cocaine, or heroin being addictive...because everyone knows it it is...

see, but marijuana is very different, if it was a hard FACT that marijuana is indeed ADDICTIVE (as in ur body completely crumbles to it and NEEDS and craves it EVERY SINGLE LIVING MOMENT) , then why is there any argument at all?

well its a freakin drug.. you shouldnt be posting a thread saying that its addictive.. you should be like saying.. blah blah is not addicted.. which would make more of a conversation.

now shut the hell up, holy shit.. stop getting so into it.

everyone knows that its bad.. now get over it.

Reasonable arguments?

What's more reasonable thn confession stories? What's more reasonable than those who were addicted to marijuana speaking out about it? Once again, ladies and gents, there's such a thing called Marijuana Anonymous where people who were ADDICTED try to regain control over their lives.

Babe, you said this in the abortion topic in debate:

QUOTE
i am pro-choice...and for all u teenage girls who are against...y dont u put urself in the shoes of a raped 16 year old girl..wouldnt u want to give her another chance to live on her life as it was and still have a future ahead of her?......or are u gonna COMPLETELY RUIN HER WHOLE LIFE AND FORCE HER TO GO THROUGH THE PAINFUL PROCESS OF GIVING BIRTH TO A CHILD AND THEN RAISING IT?....

just think about, and put urself in her shoes

How about you put yourself in my shoes. One of my nephews came to me weeping with a long bruise on the side of his arm and a couple on his face pleading me to help his mother. I was 17 years old at the time, three years ago, and he was 10. He confided in me that his older brother, near my age, was the one to bruise his arm and that his dad was responsible for the ones on his face.

Put yourself in my shoes, better yet, put yourself in this 10 year old's shoes and tell me what you would have done or what you would have felt at that moment. Think that this isn't a stranger. Think that he's YOUR 10 year old nephew.

There's no doubt about it, you lied about your "all A's" and you're stupid. PERIOD.

Wonmin, have your sister/mother/cousin get addicted on drugs and beat her/his child up while getting high or from withdrawal, then maybe you'll see the seriousness of the situation.

I'm sorry that you've never had a child come to you, black and blue from protecting his mother from his abusive addict of a father, asking for help. I'm sorry that you only know the "fun" side of drugs. And I'm sorry that you both can't seem to grasp how drugs ruin lives, that's fine with me though as you ruin your OWN lives, but please refrain from spreading false information.

Obviously, people like you and Azn kid don't know that it's bad otherwise you wouldn't be speaking out against us and it's people like you that make me be unable to "get over it".

uhhhhhhh get over it.. its something called reality.
first of all.. drugs are and always will be everywhere around you..
there are millions of people out there who are going through worse and the example you made.. wtf, is that from like a drama or something? instead of trying to make me feel sorry for them, why dont you go out there and do something about it if youre so anti-drug.
"fun" side of drugs? wtf shut up
instead of telling the people in the freakin forum to stop doing drugs...
go lecture your uncle or something.. seems like your family needs more "help" then us.

and im sure your uncle hitting his children werent because of marijuana retard.. probably alcohol or some other drug.
and ive seen and hung out with plenty of people who uses marijuana.. and most of them are very friendly.. and i know how bad it is cause im never going to do it, but face the fact! DRUGS are everywhere.

i cant believe i wasted my 100th post for explaining this crap to a person whos living in his/her own little fantasy land

*Phew*, again, go ahead and do drugs, I'm over that. If that's life for you, hey go for it. But all I'm saying is stop influencing others to do what you do eventhough it's the wrong thing to do.

Why don't you try shutting me up with something more intelligent than "shut up" and "wtf"? Did the smoke limit your vocab so much?

You're right, my family needs help. They wouldn't have needed help in the first place if my nephews weren't influenced by their father.

Reality is seeing abuse. Reality is seeing how drugs broke up a family. Isn't that reality enough? Oh wait, your reality is the happy happy feeling from smoking a joint. Haha, lest I forget, your reality is a lot more fun and appealing than mine right? Does that make your "reality" any more realisic than mine?

Hmm, I'm already doing something anti-drug. My telling you to stop spreading false information is also doing something anti-drug... Umm, isn't that obvious? I think the smokes got to your head more than you realized.

Oh dear, don't assume to know the situation. How do you get marijuana and all drugs? With money. How do people get money? They do good work for it? Hardly. Scarcely. Unrealistically. To what extent will people go through for money? Beating up kids and wives for the money is hardly anything new.

Umm, most of them are friendly? Like you and Azn Kid who love to curse at people? Yes, I'm sure they're friendly, you guys are the perfect examples.

Fantasy land? So because I want people like you to stop telling others to do bad things makes me a fantasizer? Well, my fantasy can't nearly compare to yours when you get high, I bet. I'm in fantasy land, but at least it's an honest to goodness sort of fantasy.
