Overlapping entries + top nav box problems Options

I tried use a tutorial to get rid of my top nav bar, but everything stayed the same as is.. and somehow my header image is now stuck in the box. How can position it? It is also an image map layout.
Also, is there a way to overlap my entries over the image?
And how can I get my bottom navigation [archives] to be centered on the bottom of my entries?

Sorry, if this too much ask. Any help would be grateful.
