frustrated... Options

Hello,
I am kinda new to myspace customization and I was curious...is there a way to make the blue area a different color or background image than the rest of the table? its driving me insane because I know it's different with the default layout..evertime I try, it all ends up the same color.

I wanted to put a gradient in the title area (similar to invision boards)
