this is a random poem i wrote a little more than a year ago.

Rain Down

it falls from heaven, cleansing the earth
clear and sweet
gray and cloudy
the rain falls for many days and many nights
we are all Noah, trapped in our arks with nothing to do
i need a dove.

staring out the window
at the wet, empty street
a single object remains
a girl, dressed in a pink raincoat
she sits on the curb, with her elbows on her knees
thinking.

the bright red rose i once held in my hand
is left in the street
trampled on the ground
once a reminder of the one who loved me
the petals are scattered
torn.

blurry images cloud my mind
the rain comes down harder
little boys splash in puddles
the girls shriek and run away
if only there were
silence.
