You picked me up
In your arms
You laughed; so I smiled
At that moment I knew
Or at least I hoped
You'd be with me For a while
You loved for me
You cared when no one else would
Your teachings showed me hope
And beauty beyond the eye
You taught me how to love
To play, to laugh
To sing your lullaby
It's taken me all these years
to finally realize
When something took you away
That you really did love me
I was just mistaken
You weren't here to stay.
