This one was fun. It's an old assignment that had a simple concept - one paragraph about a place where you are comfortable. An ideal place to get away from things. If it were your room, you'd describe it and things inside. Some idiotic thing like that. I decided to respond in my own little way, working around one line from an old poem, 'Home'. You'll catch the line somewhere in the middle.

---

There is only one place where I am truly comfortable, a sanctuary that brings me to complete ease, but at the same time tormenting self-conflict. Ironically, there is no other place I'd rather be than in the depths of my own mind.

It is where inspiration itself is born, where the unreachable dreams tempt my mental boundaries, and where the path of self-realization is set on. My mind is a vast and endless valley where thoughts bloom in place of dandelions, fantasies fly in place of birds, and clouds of hope streak past a sun of poetry. All this painted on a canvas of reassurance, streaked with vivid colors of individuality. Set on fire by blind rage, this is where the scent of burnt dignity lingers. The house that reflects my soul, where memories hang up on picture frames, crooked with the smile I've always tried to understand.

When I am in my mind, drowning in the sea of contemplation, I am reminded of who I am. I am compiled, I am whole, and this is where I will both mentally and emotionally grow as a person. The machine that helps create emotion translated into words, by means of pen on paper. Where self-expression thrives. Oh, the security of my own mind. No one can take it away, it is forever the most stable thing I possess. This is also where I will make my final stand against the harsh winds of life...the best of me was born here, and will be buried under the soil of blessed creativity.
