whats the difference between adobe photoshop and image ready? are they basically the same thing? and also, which one are you supposed to use to create image maps..??

Imageready is great for creating images and layouts for the web. It allows you to slice, animate, and even create rollovers with your images. I use it for all my stuff. Photoshop is best for its photo editing and all the filters to create interesting effects with your images. Usually, if you want to turn these images to web images, that's when you would switch to ImageReady.
