She won't let me go to the dance because i got a note from my teacher in the mail (that is about 1 week old) saying that i got a F for my homework grade and a D- for my test grade. I really want to go to the dance..but...i can't.

Yeah, just tell her that you'll study extra harder next time or just do chores around the house without being asked. maybe she'll let you go.
