I want to be your broken heart
So that I can take your pain
I'll wear the sorrow as my skin
Though you and I don't mend the same

I want to be the watch that ticks
And marks your days of glory and strife
I'll wave at you in tocks each day
I will be the time of your life

I want to be the elevator
That slides up and down at will
I'll take you up as far as I go
And leave you atop that hill

I want to be your nightlight
To turn on when you're afraid
I'll light up all the darkest corners
For evil I'll let none shade

I want to be the unearthly smile
That dances across your face
I'll prove you have irresistible charm
Through a physical display of grace

I want to be the sunset
On which you rest your eyes at last
I'll be the last great thing you'll see
Until that night is past

I want to be a ray of starlight
Born from the laughter of the first one
I'll teach you how to shine in the dark
And to shoot from your post for fun

I want to be a crystal
Colored deep as the ocean's blue
I'll be embedded in the crown you receive
At the gates when you harvest your due

I want to be an emissary of light
And shower you with earnest kisses
I'll be the angel in your dreams
That grants you all your wishes

I want to be a pillar of flesh
Not a stone, but a living rafter
I'll hold you up to eternal glory
And sing with you forever after
