This year, Time Magazine has chosen President Bush as "Person of the Year."
Do you feel he deserves that title? Why or why not? Their articles about him pose an excellent argument, but I still would like to hear your opinions. I personally am appalled, but that's just me. Sorry about the big mess-up on the name. it was supposed to be president, not 'persident.' Dang, I've edited this post 4 times in a row! |

QUOTE half of america voted for bush...yeah that's because people in the south / mid-west were the people that mostly backed him up. they believe in war solving all the problems in the world. maybe if they actually knew anything about anything, then they would've changed their minds. a lot of people support people because " oh well he's from my hometown " or " he's from my state "...which is completely irrelevent and stupid. please don't generalize all the people in these areas as stupid. just because you don't agree with something doesn't mean it's stupid. people in different areas are brought up differently. their parents teach them something, and, while growing up knowing that, of course they'll agree. that does NOT mean they're stupid. no, i don't agree with the so-called "stupid" people, but they have their opinions and i respect that. by the way, illinois voted democratic and is in the midwest. and i live in indiana, which is in the midwest, and i was for kerry. so we're not all "stupid", ok? ![]() QUOTE i must also inform you that half of the americans believe that saddam hussein was the one that attacked us on 9/11. thank the government and administration for that....but they DONT tell us half of the things that are REALLY going on in iraq. i remember someone posting the pictures of the soldiers "that nobody ever sees". its funny because those are only a few instances where the soldiers were sensitive and not heartless. most of them enjoy killing people because all iraqis are "bad people". do u truly believe that the soldiers in iraq are just killing the "bad guy terrorists" and coming home after a job well done? uh, NO! civilians..women and innocent children are being killed everyday for no reason. no soldier enjoys killing people. they are not over there to kill people. have respect, will you. they're dying as well, for the sake of our country. no, i don't agree with the war, but they didn't start it! it wasn't their choice to go to iraq. they're in the army, they chose to be in the army. the army is fighting a war in iraq, so they go. they're going to help finish what we've started, so then the war can be over. THEY ARE NOT GOING TO KILL PEOPLE. you're being quite ignorant, caytexo, if i do say so myself. QUOTE oh, and im also guessing that all of you are rich upper-class americans that are thrilled that your parents got a tax cut while the middle/lower class citizens didnt no, i'm in the middle class. i don't agree with most anything you're saying though. ![]() |

I never said that people in the south or mid-west were STUPID, mind you. If I don't say so myself, I think you're the one that is assuming that I'm sterotyping southerners as unintelligent...even though that's not what I said or believe. Btw...have you ever seen fareignheit [sp?] 9/11? Well, if you haven't, then I reccommend that you watch the movie. It shows all of the abusive acts that many of the U.S. soldiers do to the Iraqi people. It also shows some interviews with soldiers as they barge into small towns and kill people without any clue that most of them are civilians. You can hear them laughing and saying "Die, die!" They don't show you that on CNN, do they? and you said that NO soldier is there to kill people. Easy for you to speak as if you are there. Not EVERY soldier is there for the right reasons you know. if they're not there to kill people, then what are they doing in Iraq? Picking flowers? Oh...I must be mistaken, they are searchign for the weapons of mass destruction yet to be discovered. Bush claims "no draft"...when new fathers with families are required to serve in the army. In the movie, they showed U.S. military soldiers wandering in the poorest areas of the country...using propaganda to pursuade low-class young men to go to Iraq. Even when they said that htey werent interested, they would still try to persuade them and even had the nerve to follow them saying " you don't have anything planned for your future, so why not? " " Wouldn't you like to serve this country to make somethign of yourself? " " Die with honor..knowing that you did your best to defend America " Hmmm....draft? close to one? You tell me. |
