my parents always compare me to other people so they can imbue some good sense into me, yes it's for my own good, but it really gets annoy especially when i just had a busy day, also, it seems like they don't have confidence in you and i feel like i am always not good enough.
my dad for example, he is like an expert on it, he used the " 'bad kid' who got less than 1200 on his sats and now he is going to community college....." example ever since i came to US, and he compares me to all his friend's kids or just random high school salesclerk who works at wal-mart etc. and he would often point to those over achievers in the newspaper, like the girl who got perfect score on her ACTS and go "why can't you just be just like her?? She is only 16, and you only have a year to prepare for those standard tests......" At least my mom is not that bad... I hate it when they compare me to other people I am sure that most of your parents do the same thing too. |
