White history month?, racism Options

Okay, so I am not trying to be racist or anything, but who here agrees with me that the black people are getting way more recognition than the whites?

Now we have black history month, black activists month, and negro colleges/college funds? This is just not fair.

Everyone believes that if we have a white history month then we will be racist? We aren't. Blacks are getting everything nowadays and if the white people try to put say into anything, it gets shoved back in our face as a racist comment.

I love black history and everything, but I have pride in being white and we get no recognition whatsoever? Does anyone agree with me..

And please don't say I am being racist. I live in the South for God's sake.

um, ok there's been several people who have said white people don't know what it's like to be discriminated against, and i'm not going to quote it all.

yea, what would happen to me if i just happened to walk into harlem and be like "hi, what's your name?" do you think most of the people there would just open up and be perfectly friendly to me? no. because i'm white, and the majority there is black. it's a black community. now, if i was black and went there, i would be more accepted.

now, i'm white. a lot of jewish people in the united states are white. my mom's side of the family is jewish. now, in new york, there's a large jewish population. being jewish is more widely accepted. however, i do not live there. i live in indiana, where 96% of the population is christian. jewish people are discriminated against here, and don't get even a quarter of the recognition that christians get here. there is one eensy little temple 40 minutes away from my house. next door to it there's an extremely large church that takes up the length of the entire street in front of it. (the temple is up right next to the street and the church is deeper into that block of land) the few jewish people here have complained to our mayor to support our cause and make a bigger temple, since we don't have the money. last year he gave $100,000+ to another church to add on, so of course, we figured we'd get money too, since our temple is very cramped especially on rosh hashana and yom kippur (the holidays i usually go on). but no. there's too small of a jewish population.


do not try and tell me that white people aren't discriminated against. don't tell me i don't know what it's like to be a minority. sure, i may not be a minority in race, but i am a minority. people classify me as ignorant because i'm white, but that's not the case. i am just as educated as anyone else, and i am all for equality. i am not racist whatsoever.

and thank you for pointing out important asians in america's history, i wasn't aware. no, we probably don't spend enough time learning about asians in school. we did learn about a lot of things happening in asia in world history though (i took it last trimester). just not so much in earlier years, since we focused on american history. but make sure you do realize - it's not that i don't know about them because i'm white, it's because i wasn't taught. i don't live in a place with a lot of asians so it's not widely recognized. alina goes to my school and she's asian and she said she only knew about the yahoo guy.
