due to my earlier knowledge, the term "chink" was supposed to be a disrespectful way of calling chinese people. but somehow it became an usual word that some chinese kids call themselves today. i don't see a lot of koreans going around calling themselve "gook, or hispanic people calling themselve "spic". black people also get offended when u use the word "nigger" in front of them. i don't understand y would people use a racial slur to describe their own nationality.

Most Chinese people do get offended if other races other than Asian ones call them chinks. At least in my school, where over half of the students are Asian. When I was young and first heard the word, I had no idea it was the "nigger" for Chinese people. It's just so overused, that it doesn't seem to be a vulgarity any more. |
