Sorry if I post this in the wrong place and please move it to best fit the content... and close it if you need to... but please just dont criticize it... its the last thing anyone needs to hear...
I recieved an email from my brother in Iraq.... and it means a lot to him for me to share this with people... QUOTE the real story I know this isnt the usual e-mail you get from me. But i know you'll know what to do with it and spread it to the right people. First off, I want to thank you and the entire family for backing the war and the country. You bring hope to everybody over here doing the job, not because they have to, rather because they want to. The soldiers over here feel hopeless, fighting a war in the name of freedom. America has gotten so full of themselves that they think were the only country that deserves a free life. It's the right of everybody all around the world to live in freedom. Its dis-heartning to think that I have to go through all this, and see all that there is to see in war, to come home to a country of only a few supporters. Is patriatism dead? How quick can we forget about our family members, our freinds, our fellow Americans, who were killed by these very people on september 11th. Should we just except the state of the world as it is these days? Let the "new Hitlers" go? I am fighting here for your rights. the very rights you use to speak out against me and my shipmates, freinds, and brothers. They travel away from home and spill American blood on foreign soil and you call us devils for doing it. I fight because I know there are still Americans out there with virtue. I see it in my parents who have raised me to be who I am. I know there is still hope in the country, You see it everytime the American flag fly's high on somebodys front porch. Pass this e-mail along to friends and Americans, let them know we fight for them, and we apreciate that you, in your own ways, fight for us. With all my love for the country, because i have been there -a sailor Enjoy. |

i don`t really understand what your brother is trying to explain in his letter. Is he against the war? Or does he want to be in Iraq?
Besides capturing Saddam Hussein...[and i may add, NOT catching Bin Laden when given the perfect opprotunity] the military hasn't done much good in the middle east that has affected America in any shape or form. The way I see it, killing so many people in Iraq has accomplished nothing. There are always chances that we will be attacked again. By killing thousands and thousands of Iraqis, does that make America less vulnerable to having a reenactment of 9/11? I highly doubt it. I also have no idea why the soldiers would want to be fighting people [including CHILDREN, WOMEN, AND INNOCENT CIVILIANS] in Iraq. Leaving their families for an unclear cause? What truly IS the reason for still being in a war? I don't think many of you could answer that because the government hasn't straight out told us their reasoning for staying there. One of the major threats [saddam] has been eliminated, so why keep troops stationed there still? We don`t have control over the Iraqis...especially with their new government...so let THEM start their own...and stop enforcing our "republic democracy" government ways on them. With all due respect to the soldiers and their families, I am 100% against the war. I see no logical reasonings for being there. Maybe when Bush comes out and admits that he was wrong to assume that there were weapons of mass destruction in the first place, perhaps I'll back down a little. |
