I'm not good at figuring out what quotes mean. And I need to write an essay for one quote. Okay, here are the quotes:
1. "People only see what they are prepared to see." 2. "What you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say." 3. "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." I just need to know what the quotes mean. If you can help, I appreciate it a lot. Thank you. |

3. "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
I like this one. Christopher Columbus could not go to the Indies for spice trade by heading West. It would have greatly altered world history if Columbus didn't try going east and just sulk. But no, he began a journey that marked the beginings of America. His eastward bound venture blazed a trail for explorers, pilgrims, freedom seekers... etc. Ever heard of conformity? Yes, I'm sure you have because each of us is guilty of committing it. To completely leave your comfort zone, leave conformity, and enter into unexplored territory takes guts. Famous men like Oscar Wilde, David Bowie, and famous women like Jean D'arc, Harriet Tubman fought the status quo and wrote themselves into history because they dared to do the things that few men would give a second glance at trying. Instead of being a follower, a pawn, a 'been-there-done-that'; instead of treading a worn path, those who have trudged through the mud and paved their own roads, have undoubtedly helped advance mankind. Uh, the quote basically says: try new things. |
