just wondering... what are the chances of getting a virus from p2p like limewire , kazaa and stuff. like if your just downloading mp3s and nothing else. all my friends have been doing that and they havent got a virus. i need 2 convince my dad .. coz i recenlty downloaded limewire and he stil doesnt know wat it is.

and recently one of our spyware remover programs have deleted limewire because it is a "threat" coz ppl can dl from our comp. -_- well duh thats wat it spose 2 do. now i have to redownload it every day (coz my dad scans the comp. for spyware evrynite) or somehow prove to my dad that its perfectly safe.

The chances depends on what you're downloading and the way you download. If you just search for an mp3, let's say you search for uh.. Hawthorne Heights - Ohio Is For Lovers, and you see a file on the search results saying Ohio Is For lovers with a file size of like 600,000 KB, you should know it's a virus. An ordinary 2-4 minute song would be at least 2000 to 6000 KB.

I don't think you should even care about the chances, because as everyone else is saying, p2p software is illegal for sharing mp3s, software, and movies.
