I am currently with my first boyfriend of 4 months almost and my paretns still don't know. I'm afraid they wouldn't accept him because he is 3 years older than I am and that he is of a different race. My dad is very racist and my Mom will probably get very mad for not telling her. They are BOTH getting suspicious.
I really like this guy and I don't want to loose him. How can I tell my folks about him? |

dude... in the same predicament as you as well. my boyfriend and I have been going out for about 7 months and my parents don't agree. (mainly because he's two years older and agnostic) hmm.... well... you could just NOT tell them... and it'll either blow up in your face or everything will work out some how.... but if you tell them and say in a firm, but non-defiant voice maaaaaaaybe things can be compromised. If your voice begins to waver (or you just start squeaking from the beginning) they'll know they've got you and go for the kill... (i.e. make you break up with your boyfriend or worse). If you stand strong and voice your opinions in a mature manner, they'll take you seriously. Have them both sit down one night and just tell them you have something important to tell them. Explain how you feel about your boyfriend, about the family situation, and what you would like to reach (that is POSITIVE for both parties) as a resolution to this issue. Ask them to have an open mind and an open heart. (and to just hear you out) Anywho, best of luck to you.
