can't figure this out.. Options

i'm trying to make a layout where i have the blog in one div layer, and then extra stuff of my own in another layer. everytime i try to make a new one, the entire layout disappears or all i'm left with is the picture. what can i do to fix this problem and be able to have the other box of content visible?

thanks! i didn't mean to duplicate it on purpose, it's just that i tried to edit it and stick in my codebox, and when i pressed submit two came out and i didn't know how to delete the other one...sorry..^_^;;
