Unlocking Phones

Is it illegal to unlock cell phones? If it's not, how can we and if so, whats the concequences?

+ i have cingular, i dont know if they allow it?!

i dont get what you're asking. how is it illegal in unlock your phone if you're the one that put the code in to lock it?

like, getting a phone thats only for a specific service [tmobile].. and you want to use that phone with other services. [tmobile cingular verizon att.. etc] by unlocking the phone.
