let's get a few opinions about a growing problem i've been noticing lately. apparently some people think that you can't rightfully claim credit for coding, since you didnt invent the programming language. therefore anyone of you can take my layouts, and just change the image, and that's okay... it doesnt constitute as jocking, and i shouldnt get mad about it.

please, that's just like saying its okay for people to plagarize literature because the author didnt invent the English language. Sure, one thing is more important the other.. but learning how to program is just like learning a new language. Like english, you have a certain syntax you have to learn.. you have to learn all the tags (comparable to vocabulary), and you have to learn how to put it together to make it work the way you want. i wouldnt mind if someone took part of my code, like how to create a link, or how to put a border on something... because yeah, of course i didnt make that up... but to take my code in it's entirity... that can't be justified. you guys know that it takes me longer to code my xanga than it does to make the graphics? but that's just becaues xanga is f**ked up, and im constantly having to tweak everything to work the right way. you DIDN'T create the source code for the layout... someone else did.. just like if you jock an image.. you didnt make the image.. someone else did.. so that person deserves the credit for sitting there and coding the layout or creating the graphic. it took time to do both... THEIR time; not yours. so dont say things like "i got the coding for someone else, but i used a different graphic, and that's good enough to not credit them."

it's not the individual lines of code or tags that count either... what counts is the whole thing.. and how each code plays off each other and makes your layout work the way you want. its the end effect that counts... so yeah of course u cant claim credit on every individual line of code, but you do have the right to claim credit on the entire thing all together.

right? i may be wrong, but that's my take on it.
