Well..a couple of days ago a girl in seventh grade was planning to pierce her tongue. She already had the tongue rings and such, she just needed to pierce it, without her parents knowing. When I found out what she was doing it with, a push pin, I was in shock.
![]() The point of this topic is what do you guys think about self piercing? I think it's fine if you know what to use and that you're under parental supervision, I suppose, if you need it ![]() |

Self-piercing's okay, I guess, if you do it on the ears. Anywhere else is unsafe. Besides, places other than your ears that you want to be pierced have a higher risk of infection anyway, even if done by professionals. So don't pierce your own belly button, lip, nipple (hey, whatever rocks your boat). If you must pierce your ears by yourself, make sure it's clean.
My mom used to work at a jewelry shop a looong time ago in Hong Kong. She'd rub ginger root on the piercee's ear for a couple of minutes, sterilize a needle, and stab it through. It's not very painful because the ginger root burns for a while. //random. My friend took her earring off, and within a day the hole started to close up. She heard from the piercing guy that if that happens you need to get it fixed immediately. So during lunch, they went to the nurse, got some alcohol and a clean needle, and stabbed it through. Whether it was absolutely necessary to pierce it at that moment, I have no clue. |
