I'm sure SOME of you have noticed these three options on the top-left of the forum. They are different formats in which the posts are organized and viewed.
Outline, Standard, and Linear+ I am currently using Linear+ Not sure what these options mean? - Outline - The board will show the author post, and then proceed to show an outline of all the posts under the author post. It embeds posts that quotes other posts. By default it only shows the first 7-10 words of a post. Good for skimming. Bad for anything else. But of course in the outline you can click on an excerpt and read the entire post. - Standard - The default option, where all posts are viewed in a regular format. - Linear - My preferred format. The author post is viewable on any page. That means that you could be on Page 8 of a thread, and the author post is at the top for reference. The options to [add reply] and navigate pages are viewable after the author post, not at the top of the page. This would be convenient if the thread was asking "how old are you" and there is no need to read anyone else's posts. All you'd do is click reply directly under the author post. |
