DS or PSP Options

hi! the DS is so cool! i want to get that one... but i also want to get the PSP! They got awesome games on them!

i know.... but i'm all about eye candy and the ds doesn't do it for me. i'm tired of the same handheld graphics nintendo has, i'm ready for the next big thing (something different) and in this case that would have to be the psp!!!

The graphics on the DS are far greater than any gameboy. Despite them being sub-PSP (Or so they say, I still kind of doubt anything close to PS2 caliber graphics, which arent all that good in the first place), its still far greater than an N64 or even a Playstation. This is a HUGE jump in not only handheld gaming, but cartridge gaming as well.

Anyway, even the prettiest rose has thorns, but settle for a carnation, and you not only get more meaning out of it, but the chicks like 'em better too.

And to comment on another post, the PSP is completely different than the DS, in most ways possible.

Anyway, on to my point, when deciding which is BETTER, you cant base it on personal uses, you have to compare the purpose of the system itself. Handheld games are for gaming, not only gaming, but for gaming where there arent any TV screens or outlets. Be it camping, a long ass car ride, the hotel, or even sitting in your own room, a handheld's key point is its battery life. Maybe not for you, who sits on an outlet, but for those of us who use the handheld for what its meant for, we need more than a 90 minute to 3 hour time limit. Another key point is durability. Is the screen protected? Can I still play after dropping it from a third story window? Is the casing fragile? And lets of course not forget the games. Now, sure, some of us are going to argue which has better games, and rightfully so, with the FFVII slew of games coming for the PSP, and the amazing Mario, Metroid, Star Fox, FF, and various other games coming for the DS, its no wonder why theres an argument.

So to sum up, a handeld needs at least three things
Battery Life
Durability
Great games.

The DS has two out of those three keyed down. And while the PSP will have at least as good games as the DS, its not really made for gaming. One could argue that the device is completely media driven, with the movies and the mp3 capabilities, its just a media player with gaming abilities, and that may be Sony's handheld downfall.

Now, the question of graphics, I personally have to say those dont matter, especially in handheld gaming. I mean how many of us still have our old Gameboys? GBColors? You guys all know as well as I do that when it comes to handhelds, sure, maybe the graphics arent as good, but the games are incredible, graphics or no graphics. I mean look at games like Boktai, with its solar sensor, or like the various Tactic strategy games, like FFT and Tactics Ogre, they were practically MADE for handheld gaming, lets not forget the easy multiplayer abilities, and the Gamecube connectivity. Handhelds are the perfect gaming devices, whether they have great graphics or otherwise. And to make one thing perfectly clear, the DS has AMAZING graphics. Going from SNES caliber to beyond N64 is amazing.

So, to conclude, when comparing handhelds, for handhelds, about handhelds, the DS wins hands down. As to which you want, or prefer, or molds to your needs, thats up to you. Bottom line, the DS is a better machine, no matter which one suits you.
