i dunno, because if i get a new comp im gonna take my ATI radeon 9200 video card out of this comp, but if i got a laptop im free to go where ever, what would you prefer?

Depends on what you're going for, low price, high power, definatly a desktop but if you want the portability then of course laptops are the way to go. Unless of course you want portable power at a reasonable price (lanparties) then you want SFF (small form factor) such as shuttle and what not.
Laptops don't have to cost all that much, if you wait you can get them for cheap, say $499 after rebates. Many times you can't even get a very good desktop for that much, though a desktop will also be much better for expansion and for gaming and what not. If money wasn't an issue, I'd totally go for a laptop, see alienware. Their new line of laptops feature 2 optical drives, 2 harddrives, Nvidia-go 6800, up to 4 gb RAM and 17" screens, these puppies are less than 2 inches think and weigh something like 9lbs. Or you could go for Dell's 9200 line of inspiron notebooks which are also supposed to be very good. But there really is no way to directly compare a desktop to a notebook. It all depends on what you need. |
