i was over at my boyfriend's house the other day and he told me that he loved me. we're only 14 and we've only been going out for like a month. but he told me that he'd loved me for a while. i told him that i liked him a lot but wasn't ready to use those words. was that a smart move? i mean i really do like him but we're only 14 and to me those words are like really special...ya know what i mean. i just...i'm not sure if what i said could have hurt him or not. do you think what i said was right?

I regret saying "I love you" to someone I didn't really love, just because I was feeling sorry for that guy. See, if you don't think you do, then you shouldn't say it. By saying it, you're sort of lying about your own feelings. You'll get mixed up. I got mixed up and got in a big mess in my own head. Later, I realized that I never really loved him. I just... liked him a lot.
And if you say it too many times, it will become meaningless. "I love you" should be saved for someone REALLY special. |
