Why Canada?, why move there? Options

after this years election, many kids at my school (and many users of these forums) have said "THAT'S IT, I'M MOVING TO CANADA!" Why? Is your relocation going to some how affect the other 270 million people who live in the US? I'm going to quote the APB

 
A few thoughts on the election... An observation that I touched on breifly above but have never understood, why do Liberals always bluff like they are going to move to Canada when they don't get their way? What the fsck is that? I mean, first off, no, no you aren't going to move to Canada. You are going to stay here in the U.S., uncomfortably close to me and continue to whine indefinitely. Because that is what you would rather do. You would rather be miserable here than be happy in Canada (if such a thing is possible). And why Canada? If I decided that I were through with the U.S., I think I would be able to find a slightly more attractive new home than Canada. Bermuda, Cyprus, the Virgin Islands... It doesn't take a genius to look at a globe and come up with better options than Canada--a cold, empty place denizened by American impostors with bad hair, acid washed jeans and slightly strange accents.

Honestly, how many of the people who say they will move to Canada will actually move? Frankly, I could care less if they moved. America can do without them.

And about Bush supporters moving to Canada if Kerry won, I don't think that would be the case. The reason Kerry supporters want to move to Canada is because they know how Bush governs (after all, then they wouldn't support Kerry, would they?) Since they already know how he does his job, they already have established their opinion that Bush is a bad leader. Therefore they want to move to Canada. But Bush supporters may not do that if Kerry won, because they don't know how Kerry leads.

Considering how divided this country was during the campaigns, I wouldn't be surprised if Bush supporters would say they would move to Canada if Kerry wins because they were very well aware of the plans Kerry has. Both sides know what they were voting for, in my opinion.

I just feel that it was incredibly immature to have that kind of outburst, unless it was just to poke fun, and the "Jesus Land" stuff. I guess everyone has their own way of criticizing though.

And I really don't know why everyone wants to move to Canada, but my reasons are:
1) It's close.
2) You like the government system. (More taxes --> More free services)
3) It's not Mexico. (I doubt any disagrees with me on this one - I mean, you can't drink the water, you can't eat the candy, it's terribly hot...meh)
4) Depending on where you live, it has a nice, moderate climate.
5) You probably won't strike it rich, but at least you have a smaller chance of living in the streets.
6) Safer (again, depending on where you live). I don't know if this is just me, but when I watch the US local news, there's way more school violence or hate crimes that happen. In Canada there's...very few. So yah.

Why not somewhere in Europe?
