Girl asking for a guy's opinion, answer please. Options

I try to put this as simply as possible.

I sort of liked this guy. He was hot but not the brightest... sort of obliviously to his surrounding or so it seemed. I didn't really want to date him cause I figured he'd make a crappy boyfriend.

My friend Jes knew I liked this guy and told his best friend. Jes and the guy's friend are good friends. So this guy's friend tells Jes he'll find out who my crush likes for me as a favor to her. He calls the guy I like and tells Jes about it. So Jes tells me that my crush said he thinks I'm cool and stuff but doesn't really want a girlfriend- especially before Christmas because he's cheap. He wasn't even supposed to know I liked him at all. Jes says, according to my crush's friend he already knew I liked him. That didn't make sense but that's besides the point.

Ok the point of this... Are all guys like this? Are you cheap like this guy and avoid relationships so you don't have to spend money? Do you think it was an excuse? Do you think my crush's friend just screwed me and lied about it... I mean this guy doesn't really like me anyway...

why the fcuk do you care if the guy is cheap? I think he's a sleaze for using it as an excuse, but why are people so shallow? "Are guys really that cheap?" Jeez, you need someone to spend money on you so you can feel secure about a relationship? Can't a nice freekin love note work out better? God, people these days. I don't want to generalize and say grls are financial blackholes, but I really do want to say it. Ok. Girls are financial blackholes.
