omigawd.. i just realized this topic. reminds me that i throb.gif debating...

anyhoo, in ur country, do you think that laws are too strict?
like here in the US about gay mariage? that's strict.. i mean like i saw on someone's siggy, marriage is about love, not gender, age, or whatever. =\ it's their choice... not the person who made the damn law.

QUOTE(iheartsimba @ Nov 25 2004, 1:19 PM)
because i don't think you get this concept of 'love'.

First I would like to make something clear before we continue. Not you or anyone in the world can tell me what love is to me anymore than I can tell you what love is to you.

Love is different for everyone. Of course there are some fundamental things to it like caring and loyalty... etc, but as far as I can tell, because each person is an individual and unique, each person will have his or her own way of loving.

So my point being, NEVER dictate to anyone that he/she do not understand love. Not only is that a complete absurdity, but also very arrogant of you to even think that you would know love better than another person. That is the nicest way I can think of to let you know that I think you're ignorant, in so many words.

So lets continue by focusing on one idea at a time.

QUOTE
but you see letting gays marry, it completely different from incest. i mean anything could lead to that, not just letting gays marry. whats about mixed marrages..like races? same thing. you could support the incest idea with that to. but it doesn't change anything,

How is incest "completely" different from homosexuality? Is it because you feel that way or is it because it's true, according to you? Is it that you feel people who are involved in incest relations don't know how to love like homosexuals do? Or is it that you feel that they're not human? WHY is the idea different to you? Please, do explain.

If you want to convince anyone that everyone is equal, you're not going to get very far by saying that incest couples are "different". I'm sure you can see the obvious hypocrisy in that.

Mixed races weren't a very celebrated idea in earlier times and there were even laws that supported racism/discrimination. Yet, where are those laws now? The only semblance of it I can think of at this moment is Affirmative Action. So yes, I think we and the government have gone a long way from those days where it was perfectly fine to kill a Black man for running away from his supposed master.

Things do change because time allow it so. Races did not mix over the course of one night or ten years, it took centuries, a hell lot of blood and bravery for us to get where we are today. What makes you think that things can be simple for homosexuals?

I know that it would be ideal to just accept things, embrace the new ways or "go with the flow, but do you really expect every human to think like that? HELL NO. That's not how the human mind works. PERIOD. WHY??? I have already provided you with the answer:

Because everyone is unique and sees love differently.

The answer was so obvious that I was utterly offended when you said I don't understand love. So shocked that you would even make such an accusation when you, yourself don't understand such obviousness.

QUOTE
a lot of strong christians think that god is agianst gay marrages (george bush) blahblah but the bible wasn't gods words. it was hte men who interpreted it. i see nothing wrong with gays marrying, and the amount of gays in this population is rapidly increasing.

I'm not Christian nor do I belong with any organized religion. I simply believe that time will change how people view this topic and I'm almost positive that time is in favor of homosexual relationships.

QUOTE
many of them are in love, and telling people who they "CANT" marry, it just doesn't seem right. and incest, i think many people are aware what happens to the children from incest, and stopping people form marying won't stop them if they are incest. they'll still like..do it. and from "40 years old marrying 5 year olds" i think we have a current law against that which should stay, because that is very different from gay rights...

Incest doesn't only mean child molestation. Lets broaden our views a bit instead of just narrowly assuming the worst. After all, isn't that what YOU don't want people to do when they think of homosexuality?

Love can grow from incest just as homosexuality. I don't understand why you would think them so different from each other.

It certainly doesn't seem right that marriage is governed by others, but that has being going on for a long time. The whole arrange marriages thing is no news to you is it?

Sure, people break laws and do illegal things, but if you want to argue that homosexuals should be able to get married because they love each other then you'd have to think about expanding that law to accept all groups of people for WE ALL KNOW LOVE, not just homosexuals.

QUOTE
And it's not like a lot of the heterosexuals that get married these days are fit for the title of "husband" or "wife" anyway.

People, IN GENERAL, get married for the wrong reasons sometimes. What would make homosexuals any different?
